Sportsblock — Community Transparency Report

Snapshot generated: 2026-04-16T20:36:23.874Z. All numbers pulled live from Postgres, the Hive blockchain, and Hive Engine.

From day one the deal has been simple: if you create, predict, or play — you earn. Sportsblock keeps nothing it doesn't need. Here is every number that backs that up.

Sportsblock was set up to help grow the Hive Blockchain rather than hinder it in any way and the team are all long term Hive stalwarts from back in the Steem days. We might not be on Discord saying GM to everyone but we are all active. We have the best interests of Hive at heart. We believe it we set up the systems properly in the back end then the Community can not only sustain itself without any handouts but will thrive. Sportsblock is gathering pace. What begun as long form post community is not everything but with sportsbites, predictions , live match threads with match stats in a comment container so people can interact with live matches in their own container and the popular contests . Contests are proving a great success we were taken aback by the level of detail that went into the IPL Cricket Boundary blackjack contest ran by @talesfrmthecrypt. His daily posts with the match previews was some of the best analysis of a sporting event ever to be seen on Hive. Turns out our beloved tales has pedigree and runs his own cricket website. But the posts were exactly the kind of posts we are looking for on Sportsblock. The contest just drove the content and all of a sudden we were Cricketblock for a couple of weeks with users posting up about the IPL. Over the 3 rounds we had over 100 Hive users join the contest which in this time on Hive right now is some going. We also onboarded a few external users who were interested in the IPL contests so this filled us with optimism.

With all the money grabs going on at Hive at the moment we want will be transparent with our Community so that they can trust that we are growing our Community rather than buying flat iron steaks with bearnaise sauce from their MEDALS purchases. Yes every penny will be accounted for and we run a tight ship. At least the Sportsblock user will know that if there is money spent, it will be for their best interests. But guess what , we haven't really had to spend anything yet. Who knew!! I am trying to twist @niallon11 's arm for a $6 twitter subscription for the sportsblock account but he hasn't replied to my whatsapps. Anyway here are the numbers so far.

1. MEDALS sales — where the HIVE goes

Every time someone buys MEDALS on the app, the trade is routed through honey-swap on the Hive Engine market. 0.5% of the HIVE side is retained as a liquidity fee to sportsblock. That HIVE is then manually powered up into HIVE Power to back the community.

Current sportsblock position on Hive

AssetAmount
HIVE Power (own)13,051.535 HP
HIVE Power (delegated out)0.000 HP
HIVE Power (received from users)602.383 HP
HIVE Power (effective voting weight)13,653.918 HP
Liquid HIVE1.086 HIVE
Liquid HBD0.001 HBD

All 13k+ HP was accumulated by powering up HIVE received from MEDALS sales, post rewards, and curation — none of it has ever been powered down. Full on-chain history scan (7,806 ops) on sportsblock shows 12,778.648 HIVE self-powered-up across 41 separate power-ups.

Follow the money: MEDALS sales → HIVE → HIVE Power

When someone buys MEDALS on the app, the HIVE proceeds arrive at sportsblock as SWAP.HIVE (a wrapped Hive-Engine token). Those are then converted back to real HIVE via hivepegged_withdraw and powered up. The full chain is independently auditable:

StepAmountCount
SWAP.HIVE withdrawn from Hive Engine (= HIVE proceeds from MEDALS sales)12,693.932 HIVE22 withdrawals
HIVE powered up into sportsblock HP (transfer_to_vesting)12,778.648 HIVE41 power-ups
Power-up ratio (HP / sales proceeds)100.7%

100% of HIVE earned from MEDALS sales has been powered up. The ratio being slightly over 100% means other HIVE inflows (post-reward payouts, 5% post beneficiary HIVE, curation) have also been poured into HP rather than cashed out.

Window: 2026-02-18 → 2026-04-15. Raw data: hiveblocks.com/@sportsblock for on-chain power-ups; accounts.hive-engine.com/accountHistory?account=sportsblock&symbol=SWAP.HIVE for the SWAP.HIVE withdrawals.

2. The 5% community cut on long-form posts

Every long-form post published through Sportsblock attaches sportsblock as a 5% beneficiary on the comment_options Hive operation. That means 5% of post rewards on long-form content flow straight into the community account — not a wallet belonging to any person.

On-chain rewards received by sportsblock (from the last 7,806 ops, full history):

SourceHIVEHBDVESTS
comment_benefactor_reward (the 5% cut)73.3360.075122,369.428
author_reward (posts by sportsblock itself)149.3210.075245,352.926

3. Prediction & contest fees — burned, not banked

Every prediction pool takes a 10% platform cut. Every contest with a fee-funded pool takes a 10% platform cut too. In both cases that MEDALS is transferred to the null account and burned forever — it isn't income, it's deflationary pressure that benefits every MEDALS holder.

9,638,195 MEDALS (50.03% of supply) are still sitting on the Hive Engine market as open sell orders from sportsblock — those are MEDALS nobody has bought yet. Combined with the treasury, roughly 77.04% of the total supply has never left the platform.

The sportsblock treasury of 5,203,428 MEDALS is pre-minted reserves for the long-term staking-rewards programme (30k/40k/50k/60k MEDALS per week for years 1–4+), curator payouts (100 MEDALS per curated post), and prize pools for IPL BB, LMS, and future contests. It's earmarked for community payouts, not profit.

Of the 4,401,604 MEDALS in community wallets, 4,365,636 (99.2%) is staked long-term — a strong signal of holder commitment. Only ~35,968 MEDALS sit liquid in wallets.

Methodology

  • Prediction payouts are the sum of PredictionStake.payout where payoutTxId is set (i.e. the on-chain broadcast confirmed). Earlier settlements did not write rows to PredictionEscrowLedger — the PredictionStake table is authoritative.
  • Prediction platform cut uses Prediction.burnedAmount summed across status='SETTLED'; the null account balance on Hive Engine is the ultimate on-chain receipt.
  • Contest payouts are the sum of ContestEntry.payoutAmount where payoutTxId is set.
  • IPL Boundary Blackjack totals are the sum of prize_first + prize_second + prize_third across competitions with status='complete'. (Early rounds paid out before the per-entry prizeAwarded field was wired up, so we use the committed prize pool per round.)
  • Curation numbers are from the Curation table (status = completed), which is only set after the MEDALS transfer broadcasts successfully on Hive Engine.
  • HIVE Power is computed from vesting_shares × total_vesting_fund_hive / total_vesting_shares using the current dynamic global properties.
  • On-chain history scan covers the most recent 7,806 operations on sportsblock (full history).
  • Snapshot time: 2026-04-16T20:36:23.874Z.

Anyone can verify every one of these numbers. sportsblock and sp-predictions are public Hive accounts — hiveblocks.com and tribaldex.com show the same data. Nothing is hidden.

Hello, thank you for all the support you’ve been giving me, and I know that support will only keep growing. Why not start making predictions or placing bets on the #NBA? The playoffs begin on Saturday, and it would be a great time to do so.

It's up to the user to make the predictions so you should make one and we can then bet with it or against it. :-D . So give it a go. https://sportsblock.app/predictions

Okay, bro, I get it now. Thanks. But I guess I have to add medals to the loot, right? At least 10?

Yeah, I already checked, and it starts at 24 medals, but I have a question: can I make a prediction for the winner even if it slows me down? The prediction I wanted to make isn't easy—I analyzed it carefully and it's a bit complicated—but maybe once the playoffs start, I'll make a test prediction.

how do you mean slow you down? The prediction you make will be your MEDALS on the line. If you lose then you lose your medals that you bet. If you win then you win the MEDALS of the people who predicted against your prediction. The reason why people make a prediction is because they have information that they think others do not like you for example.

Hold on, I didn't say that. What I said was that a bet I was going to make—or in this case, a prediction—had gotten complicated.

But let me tell you something: when I make a prediction or a bet, it's because I'm confident, based on my analysis of the team's chances of winning, and that's based on statistics and my understanding of the game—that's what I rely on.

But what I've realized is that people here are more into soccer and cricket; they don't bet much on basketball.

Thank you so much for the report and for the clarity of the project and the ideas.

I discovered the project just a few days ago, and every day, as I learn something new, I enjoy contributing my tiny bites with my posts and comments.

Keep up the hard work, and thank you so much for everything you do.

Greetings from Spain.

Dani.

"The contest just drove the content and all of a sudden we were Cricketblock for a couple of weeks with users posting up about the IPL."

It's as inevitable and unpalatable as Trump taking Greenland. We are coming for the platform...
