Predict and Win! Claim your Free Bet on Hive's first Social Betting App

Hive FPL is excited to promote a new opportunity for football fans to engage and win Hive right here on the blockchain.

This week sees the launch of @mengao 's Samba Pools, a social betting app built right here on Hive that allows football fans to test their knowledge of the beautiful game by predicting scores and competing against fellow Hiveians for a chance to win a pot of funds.

To help gain some exposure to the app, we're also offering 10 Free Bets for rounds 37 and 38 of the Premier League. See below on how to claim yours!

How to use Samba Pools?

It's simple but to make things even easier here's a step by step guide.

Step 1 - Get yourself a Hive account and some liquid Hive

First things first, you'll need a Hive account and some liquid Hive.

That shouldn't be a problem for our Hive FPL community because we'll be sending you your prize funds for GW34 & GW35 of the H2H leagues shortly. If you're not already a member of the Hive FPL then follow this account, drop by our Discord channel and join the new league that starts in July for your chance to win Hive by playing Fantasy Premier League.

If you're new to Hive and having any problems then just come ask for help in our Discord channel. We'll even send you some free resource credits so you can begin to interact fully on the Hive blockchain.

Step 2 - Login to Samba Pools

Login into the Samba Pools app using your Hive account and posting key, just as you would with any other Hive app.

Screenshot 2025-05-13 at 05.40.13.png

Step 3 - Deposit into your Samba Pools wallet

Next, you'll need to move funds from your main Hive wallet into your Samba Pool's wallet to allow you to place bets. Click on your username in the right top hand corner and then on 'wallet'

Screenshot 2025-05-13 at 05.12.38.png

Select how much you want to deposit into your Samba Pools account and hit the 'deposit' button. You'll either need to confirm the transaction manually using an active key or if you use a service like Hive Keychain (recommended) you'll be prompted to confirm the transfer.

Screenshot 2025-05-13 at 05.21.26.png

The successful transaction will show in your transaction history at the bottom of the screen and your 'in-game' balance will be updated.

Any issues with transferring funds please let us know.

Step 4 - make your predictions and place your bet

You're now ready to head to the 'pools' section to make your score predictions and place a bet.

Screenshot 2025-05-13 at 05.12.17.png

You can choose to 'view' existing bets within any pool.

To make your predictions just click on 'bet'.

Make a prediction on every game within the pool and then choose the amount of Hive you want to bet. Remember that the amount you bet has a multiplier effect on the score (see below).

The date the pool closes (the date of the first match within the pool) is listed at the top of the screen.

Screenshot 2025-05-13 at 06.02.35.png

Step 5 - Scoring points and winnings from the pool

Points scoring goes as follows

Screenshot 2025-05-13 at 06.08.22.png

Most of these are self explanatory but to clarify the 'Correct Winner +' categories. Examples would be as follows...

Prediction OutcomeYour PredictionActual ScorePoints
Correct Winner + Exact Score (Winner)Team A 3 - 2 Team BTeam A 3 - 1 Team B7 points
Correct Winner + Exact Score (Loser)Team C 1 - 2 Team DTeam C 1 - 4 Team D6 points
Correct Winner + Goal DifferenceTeam E 2 - 0 Team FTeam E 3 - 1 Team F5 points
Correct Winner + TieTeam G 1 - 1 Team HTeam G 2 - 2 Team H5 points

Your final score for the round is then multiplied by the amount of Hive you've bet.

So if you bet 1 Hive and score 63 points your total score is 63.

If you score 48 points but bet 2 Hive your total score is 96.

The total prize fund for the pool is then split proportionally based on the total scores (points x Hive bet). So for example

PlayerHive BetPointsScore (% of total score)Winnings in Hive
Player 115050 (16.7%)1.67
Player 2520100 (33.3%)3.33
Player 323570 (23.3%)2.33
Player 424080 (26.7%)2.67
Total1030010

For illustrative purposes only. Hive works to 8 decimal places and Samba Pools charges a 1% fee on the total pool

Premier League Round 37

So now you know how to play, the only question remaining is which teams are going to win in Round 37 of the Premier League?

Here's our analysis of all 10 matches. Remember that betting closes on the day of the first match and we do have Friday fixtures this week...

Screenshot 2025-05-13 at 07.03.30.png

Aston Villa were fairly perturbed that their game against Spurs was moved to a Friday night to accommodate for the North London side's Europa League Final taking place next Wednesday. However, with Marcus Rashford out for the rest of the season then he's free to go clubbing every day of the week so it really doesn't matter.

In fact, this game as far as Spurs are concerned, really doesn't matter. They've been putting out shadow teams for the last couple of months as they priortise a European trophy and the CL qualification that it brings. The result, 1 point from their last 5 matches in the Premier League. If you're in the East Midlands area on Friday night and can provide your own kit and boots then there's a good chance you'll get a game for Spurs.

Villa too are chasing CL qualification, albeit in the more conventional manner of a top 5 finish. They absolutely have to win this match to keep that hope alive. The only thing counting against them is their recent form against Spurs in the league. They lost 4-1 in the reverse fixture this season and 4-0 in the corresponding game here at Villa Park last Spring.

Screenshot 2025-05-13 at 07.23.24.png

I mean I could just copy and paste the above and change the names right?

Chelsea are ahead of Villa on goal difference but that is enough to mean that CL qualification is very much in their own hands. A win here against a United Team who have been dreadful in the league for the last couple of seasons sets them up for the real crunch match at Forest on the last weekend of the season.

It's goals that have been hard to come by for both these teams in the league of late. Chelsea are on a decent run of results but have only scored 10 in their last 9 Premier League matches including the 3 they got against a hungover Liverpool side earlier in the month. Chelsea's first choice centre forward, Nicolas Jackson, is suspended for this one, although their is an argument that this makes them more likely to score!

It's a similar story for United who have failed to score in 5 of their league fixtures since the turn of the year. They haven't won in the league since trouncing Leicester way back in March.

Screenshot 2025-05-14 at 04.49.45.png

Great relief for Southampton and their fans after the draw with City took them to the magical 12 point mark , eclipsing Derby's lowest points tally in a Premier League season. Surely the only way is up from here?

Everton pushed themselves up to 13th in the league with a good win away Fulham last time out. There is a perception, perhaps even a misconception, that the Toffees play quite stagnate football but in fact their matches have become significantly more entertaining since the return of Moyes.

On the flip side, they have conceded a goal in 11 of their last 12 Premier League matches. Equally, they are the draw specialists with 15 of them this season and only 9 wins. No side outside the bottom 3 has won fewer games than Everton this year so while they will go into this match as firm favourites I wouldn't assume that it'll be a comfortable margin or victory.

Screenshot 2025-05-14 at 04.59.39.png

"There are some people on the pitch! They think it's all over. It is now!" Notts Forest owner, Evangelos Marinakis, attempted to recreate English football's greatest moment last weekend as he saw his side throw away a golden opportunity to return to the top 5 of the Premier League.

What impact that action may have on the Forest manager and his players remains to be seen but they have been wilting under the pressure of late with just 1 win in their last 6 matches.

In fact, the only teams that they've beaten since the start of April are Spurs and United who are the 2 sides that West Ham have just taken 4 points from. Prior to the win against United last weekend, the Hammers hadn't tasted victory since February with new manager Graham Potter struggling to get any semblance of a football team from his expensively assembled group of players. Of course at the same stage last season, you could say the same about Forest...

Screenshot 2025-05-14 at 05.11.51.png

A West London Derby in the May sunshine. I think this game could be one worth a watch. There have been a staggering 70 goals scored in league matches at the Gtech this season, averaging out at 3.89 per game.

Brentford are absolutely flying at the moment with 4 wins on the bounce and unbeaten in their last 6 Premier League matches. It's very unlikely that it will be enough to see them claim a European spot but it does put to bed a lingering doubt that the Bees tend to be more dangerous pre-Christmas than after it.

In fact, it's Fulham whose season has drifted a little. Since being knocked out of the FA Cup at the end of March, the Cottagers have won just twice in the league against top of the table Liverpool and bottom club Southampton, failing to keep a cleansheet in their last 7 matches.

So, now that I've hyped it up as a goal fest, get ready for a nil nil draw. Just like these 2 sides played out at exactly the same point last season...

Screenshot 2025-05-14 at 05.23.40.png

Another one of those end of season matches where you really just think that both clubs will throw caution to the wind but whether either has the quality to entertain remains to be seen.

Leicester broke their 5 month home scoring drought with a win against Southampton in their last game at the King Power before going onto scupper East Midland rivals Nottingham Forest's Champions League hopes in round 36.

Ipswich too have shown a little bit of fight of late, particularly on their travels. They came back twice to claim a point at Everton earlier this month, got another 2-2 draw at Chelsea and beat Bournemouth meaning they've taken 5 points from their last 4 away matches.

In fact, the Tractor Boys 15 points from away fixtures this season should be the basis for survival in the Premier League but like Leicester, they too have found winning at home incredibly difficult.

Screenshot 2025-05-14 at 05.33.35.png

In amongst a number of games that don't really mean anything as far as the success and failure in a season is concerned is this absolute corker between 2nd and 3rd.

Arsenal will be relieved to have recovered from 2 down at Liverpool last weekend to claim a point that all but guarantees them Champions League football, especially with only 1 side in the current top 6 winning in round 36.

That side was of course Newcastle who are finishing the season very strongly and themselves are just a win away from returning to European football's top table.

Arsenal won the corresponding fixture last season by an impressive 4-1 margin but otherwise this has been a match-up dominated by the Magpies of late. Newcastle have already beaten the Gunners 3 times this season in league and cup and that impressive win by Arsenal in February 2024 marks 1 of just 2 victories in their last 8 meetings.

Really it's Arsenal's home form that has cost them a shot at the title this season. They haven't won a league match at the Emirate since April Fools day (make of that what you will) and of the 6 teams scrapping for the last 4 CL spots, only Forest have a worse home record this season.

Screenshot 2025-05-14 at 05.49.08.png

Brighton have probably been one of the hardest teams to predict results for all season with their form coming in fits and starts. Having taken 2 points from 5 matches from mid-March to late April, the Seagulls have now bounced back with wins against Wolves and West Ham and a point against a Newcastle team who have beaten most other opponents this Spring.

Liverpool of course are basically on their summer holidays already and have been since Arsenal to go on theirs too a couple of months earlier.

What that means for this match is anyone's guess. Liverpool have enough squad depth and talented youth players to think that it might be worth giving some of the fringe players a run out while at the same time, this isn't really going to be the high pressure environment in which Slot's side has thrived this season.

Screenshot 2025-05-14 at 05.55.39.png

In an elongated round of fixtures, the 2 teams competing in the FA Cup Final on Saturday are required to play on Tuesday evening.

For Palace, it's difficult to imagine that they'll be particularly up for this game. Either, they've just won the FA Cup and coming off the back of 24hr bender in London's clubs and bars or they'll be picking themselves off the floor following defeat. Either way, it's difficult to imagine a fully motivated squad of players.

Wolves don't have anything to play for either expect perhaps contracts for next season whether at Molineux or in the case of a few of their star turns, somewhere else.

The visitors were on a 6 match winning streak until May hit. They lost with a bit of whimper at home Brighton last time out.

Screenshot 2025-05-14 at 06.00.33.png

Unlike Palace, City are of course far more adept at competing on multiple fronts and they've certainly got lots to play for between now and the end of the season.

With the 2 sides immediately above them in the league guaranteed to take points from one another, City could still make a late charge for 2nd. At the same time, they could well find themselves out of the top 5 by the time this match kicks off.

Their 0-0 draw at Southampton, a master class in passing the ball sideways, perhaps shows that they still consider the FA Cup to be important in a season that has otherwise been disappointing but surely they'll make the CL next season?

Even so, City's home form has been very strong this year, with only Liverpool boasting a better record. The Blues have won 5 of their last 6 Premier League matches at the Ethiad.

Opponents Bournemouth were one of the teams challenging to pip City and others to a European spot a few months ago but the Cherries have been unable to keep that momentum going through the course of a season.

They did beat City in the reverse league fixture this season before City knocked them out of the FA Cup. They have never won an away match against today's opponents and have drawn only once back in 1989 in an old Second Division game in which they came back from 3 -0 down at half-time to draw 3-3 under Harry Redknapp.

More recently, they've lost all of their Premier League matches here conceding 30 goals in those 7 games including a 6-1 shellacking here last season.

Fingers crossed. What did you make of Marinakis‘ actions after the Leicester game?

Blown out of proportion, bad decision by medical team, yeah he shouldn’t have reacted but he’s passionate and only saying what most of the fans were thinking! Taiwo now in an induced coma so definitely shouldn’t have been allowed back on the pitch…

Gary Neville’s comments were ridiculous, didn’t know the situation or what was actually said. Think Nuno and the club’s statements since have handled the situation quite well.

Yeah it looks awesome, and it is awesome to something that is not another NFT or playing card based game.
The DASH community have their tipping game, but I keep forgetting to enter my scores.
This looks fun.

I will check it out and add a pool. I started with premier league as I was trying to find the leagues with the most people interested. It's only fun when there is at least a few people interested in that league to bet.
