Weekend Vibes - Sports

Can we, please, have another round of explosive sporting events like the ones we had in the just concluded weekend? Where do I start from? Formula 1? Betis vs Barcelona? Or the scarcely seen scenario of a team throwing everything at shorthanded Man City? Oh, I might as well start from the North London Derby, but it's always good to reserve the best for the last. Right?

Same Song And Dance
Dear Chelsea FC supporters, I'm glad to announce with all sincerity that your beloved team will not relegate this season. Never! Mbanu!! However, you'd do well to maintain a very low profile from now on because your team will be dragged from pillar to post, and you won't even be able to defend them. With Arsenal, Spurs, Man City and Newcastle to come in the next seven EPL games, you can start setting aside money to purchase a very efficient shock absorber. I really do wish you all the best of luck in the trying times to come.

Sincerely,
A concerned fellow.

Congratulations, Red Bull
Without mincing words, I'm not a fan of Max Verstappen. I have no animosity of any sort towards the Dutchman, but I'm yet to totally let go of the chaotic end to the 2021 season and the part Max played in it. However, what the young man has done is nothing short of extraordinary. After dragging Red Bull to consecutive Constructors Championship and about to seal his third straight title, he's definitely the man of the moment. On my part, I hope Lewis will have one last crack at the title before he retires. Anyways, congratulations to Max, and Red Bull.

North London Derby
Traditionally, England has always heralded the Man United - Liverpool match as the biggest match of the season. Also, the Merseyside Derby has always received a lot of coverage. However, one derby that has delivered more explosiveness than any other in recent years is none other than the North London Derby. Two teams which have been very close in recent years traded barbs once again, entertaining us with relentless attacking football for about two hours. As a neutral, it was a joy to watch. A 2-2 draw seems the befitting result for a game with no clear dominance from either side. Can we have four NLDs per season, please?!

Finally,
The promoted team needs to act now before it's too late. With zero wins, three draws and 13 losses secured from 16 games so far, it's never been this dire for the guys making the jump from the Championship. I reckon some of them are already meeting potential candidates who can turn their fortunes around. However, I hope Burnley get the hang on things quickly. They've been bright and somehow unlucky. And, I want the only black manager in the EPL right now to remain in his job. Sentiments, right?

Whatever happens to Chelsea, I'm cool with it. The bad happenings only makes it interesting. I never liked them anyway.

That una Chelsea ehn, I dey here for them this season. Some people said na blood money den use purchase una team. Na true?😂

On a more serious note, Chelsea and United are going through identical shit right now. The only difference is Man U has been rotting away for about 10 years, Chelsea's rot set in after Boehly decided to start running a Premier League team like one of those American football teams.
