When you learn blocking and parry, you practice standing at the same place. If you are a beginner, you can train in a wide stance instead of fighting stance. Understand the movements first and then keep practicing.

Then you can practice in a fighting stance. You can ask your training partner to train with you. Now when you block, you should not stand still. You can move, make the distance and block.

You can use only one hand to parry when you are good at it. Let's watch this video. If you are passionate about martial arts and want to learn Wing Chun, you will find this video very useful.

Just after blocking, you can attack the attacker right away. Always keep your hands up, even when you block with one hand, keep your other hand up and in proper place so that you are ready to block or strike.
