Is A Belt Useful For Self Defense?

People carry different weapons, and when you are being attacked, do not assure that the attacker has no weapon. When you are in a fight, you can defend the attacker's strike, grab and turn him. You can check out whether he has any weapons or not.

As soon as the attacker draws his weapon, the situation will be changed instantly. To defend yourself, you can use whatever you have as a weapon. In this post, we are going to talk about using a belt as a weapon and what you should consider when you use a belt to defend yourself.

You might see that some people pull their belt and strike others with that. So is it useful to use a belt to protect yourself?

If you learn martial arts, you learn how to use different martial weapons such as stick, long stick or bo staff, nunchaku and so on. You know how to use nunchaku and a long stick, right?

Well, who is going to carry a nunchaku and attack you with that? Or, do you carry a nunchaku and use it to defense useful?

You might see it in movies. But in real life, people do not do that. Here's the thing. You can use your belt and make some moves that you learn when you practice long stick or bo staff and nunchaku.

What should you consider before using a belt as a weapon for self defense?

When you use your belt for self defense, where you are, that's important. It has to be in an open space. If there is no enough space, you cannot use a belt effectively. That's the first thing you should consider.

When you are going to take the belt in your hand, the attacker will not stand there and watch the show, I think. So you can be attacked when you are about to do that. When you pull your belt, make the distance between you and your attacker.

As soon as you have the belt in your hand, grab it tightly. Now you can use your belt to strike. If you do not grab your belt tight, you might lose it while striking. You can wrap the belt on your hand but remember in case the attacker grabs the belt and pulls it, he can manipulate your movement. While you are attacking with the belt, do not forget to use your legs to kick.

You can easily punch the attacker with the other hand or even with the hand you grab your belt. If you do not want to fight, you can still use a belt. You can move the belt around your body like a long stick or nunchaku to prevent the attacker from getting close to you.
