If you like martial arts action movies, you know Bruce Lee, Jet Li, Donnie Yen, Jackie Chan, and Tonny Jaa. Did you watch Ong Bak? Tonny Jaa is not only an actor but also a Thai martial artist, action choreographer, and stuntman. Actors who have martial arts skills, you can see the difference in the fight.

Let's watch this video first, later we will talk about some specific things.

Source and Video Credit

In this video, you see a lot of elbow strikes, kicks, and knee charges. Elbow strike, knee charge, and kicks are very effective for self defense. Elbow is hard and so is the knee. If you train to use elbow and knee to strike, you can use it very well in a close range.

When we watch movies, everything that we see is not useful for self defense. To be honest, you do not like to try many things. The focus of a movie is to entertain people. On the flip side, when you fight for self defense, all you want is to survive and get back home safe.

When you show your back at the time of kicking or punching, the opponent can take advantage of the moment and attack you. You can see that in this fighting clip from 0:40 to 0:50 minutes. The second time, Tonny Jaa is able to hit him. Still, when you do something like this, you can get hit if your opponent is good enough.

Never underestimate your opponent because you just do not know what he is capable of doing. If you take it lightly, you might end up in a place that you do not want to. There are some spinning kicks and elbow strikes, you do not like to do that in a fight, I think.

You can jump and strike, but do you really need to do that? What do you think about this? Please feel free to comment below. There are some strikes that are effective and you can use it for self defense. For example, you can do front kicks to hit or make the distance.

I'm sharing my opinions on a combat perspective. You can have a different opinion and I respect that.
