When you are being attacked by someone close to you in your family, that's terrible. You should be more secure and safe when you are with someone close to you. To prevent domestic violence, we all should work together.

Welcome back to Self Defense Situation - Part 79. In this series of posts, we usually talk about different situations and what you can do to defend yourself and get back home safe.

You need to know how to defend yourself at the moment of someone attacking you. Let's talk about it in context. You can watch this video to see how a girl is being attacked. All video credit goes to Nick Drossos.

If the attacker pushes you and grabs your throat when you are in a seated position like this, you cannot move your head back. As soon as the guy grabs your throat, you can strike him. But the thing is if he has already grabbed your throat and put pressure, you will find it difficult to strike.

In case you cannot breathe, it is difficult to make any move. So when the attacker grabs your throat, drop your chin, make your neck tight and then strike him. Sometimes strike might not work if he is too aggressive.

You can grab his finger and pull it outside. Do not go and grab all fingers, you can use your hands to grab one finger. When you apply pressure and pull, he cannot grab you anymore.

In this way, you can defend yourself against the attack. You should talk to your family about what's going on. If we all work together, we can stop domestic violence. You are not alone. Speak up. No one has the right to do this to you.
