Farewell to Titans WR Corey Davis and TE Jonnu Smith!

Man 2017 was a really pretty solid draft class for the Titans.

I still remember Corey Davis and Jonnu Smith getting drafted in 2017. I was excited about their potential! Corey with the fifth overall pick and then Jonnu in the third round, number one-hundred overall. A wide receiver and a tight end drafted pretty high in the same draft? That was cool to see definitely, I was excited. Offense, baby. They really lived up to their potential in Tennessee and they have years to go in their career! They weren't superstars or anything but they both made awesome plays and created a lot of fun memories. These guys really are high level players I believe and they're just entering their prime honestly!

I enjoyed every bit of their time in Tennessee. By all accounts they're good hardworking fellas. Never any drama off the field or like character issues as far as I am aware of. Just good players and solid to have on your roster! From 2017 till just this past season these two helped get the Titans to the playoffs three times in their four seasons with the team after the Titans hadn't made the playoffs in nine years.

Corey Davis played in 56 games for the Titans. That's 3.5 seasons of played games in Tennessee (with 16-game seasons).

In 56 games played in Tennessee, Corey Davis accomplished the following stats:

  • 207 receptions (59.14 receptions on average per sixteen games played)
  • 2,851 yards (814.5 yards on average per sixteen games played)
  • 11 receiving touchdowns (3.14 touchdowns on average per sixteen games played)
  • So, every 16 games Davis produced an average of 59 receptions, 814 yards, and 3 touchdowns

That's some great production that will be missed!

This is the first play that comes to mind when I think of Corey Davis's time in Tennessee. This is from 2018:

What an incredible moment against at the time the defending champs! Game-winner, EPIC.

In 60 games played in Tennessee, Jonnu Smith accomplished the following stats:

  • 114 receptions (30.4 receptions on avg. per sixteen games played)
  • 1,302 receiving yards (347.2 receiving yards per sixteen games played)
  • 16 receiving touchdowns (4.26 touchdown receptions on average per sixteen games played)
  • 1 rushing touchdown
  • So, every 16 games played Smith produced an average of 30 receptions, 347 yards, and 4 touchdowns

Solid production along with the fact that he's a great blocker.

This is the first play I think of when I think of Jonnu Smith. Against the enemy Ravens in the PLAYOFFS for that huge upset win in 2020!:

These guys were straight up play-makers.

Both Corey and Jonnu left as a result of free agency and being offered better deals elsewhere. They both found tremendous locations and deals though!

Corey Davis found a three-year, $37.5M deal with the New York Jets. The Jets aren't winning right away, but he will help that and it's a good market for him in NYC.

Jonnu Smith found a nice deal with the New England Patriots worth $50M over four years. That's some good money! In New England, with Bill Belichick, I'm excited to see what kind of career he has there!

Thank you for everything Corey Davis and Jonnu Smith! You guys were awesome during your time in Tennessee. You'll both forever be Titans, #Titanup!

It will be tough for the Titans to replace these two studs, but I'm looking forward to and am hopeful to seeing how it all plays out!
