Titans sign CB Janoris Jenkins, DL Denico Autry and two other quality players!

The Titans have had a solid little off-season so far in my opinion. Considering the off-season isn't over yet, and the salary cap being lessened this year, and the fact that the draft hasn't even come yet and the Titans have got NINE picks, I believe the Titans have put themselves in a solid position to have a good roster in my opinion.

These four players have actually been signed a little while ago. But I'm just getting around to it.

These players are probably overall some of the best free agent signings by the Titans aside from Bud Dupree. These players are going to very likely going to see a lot of playing time.

I'm excited about the signings! Here they are.

CB Janoris 'Jackrabbit' Jenkins (Saints)

This is a signing I really like a lot! I'm a bit nervous after the team signed a veteran cornerback in Jonathan Joseph from last season and that kind of was a fail. But Janoris is both a little younger than Joseph and a better player as well.

The Titans need a lot of help on defense. The secondary especially. A signing like this is super clutch and desperately needed. This is a veteran with a lot of years under his belt of playing at a high level.

Since the Titans lost Vaccaro, Butler, and Jackson (two cornerbacks and a safety) this is the second secondary free agent signing by the Titans I have mentioned. I'll be mentioning a third later.

Jenkins was drafted in 2012 by the St. Louis Rams. In nine NFL seasons, Jenkins has played for three NFL teams. He has played for the Rams for four years, the Giants for nearly four years, and the Saints for a season and few games in another season.

Jenkins has just been a productive player throughout his career and rarely gets majorly injured, on every team he's been on. In his nine seasons Jenkins has appeared in 128 games while starting 125. In that time he has produced the following stats:

  • 26 interceptions
  • 9 defensive touchdowns
  • 118 passes defended
  • 522 total combined tackles (453 solo)
  • 2 sacks
  • 14 tackles for loss
  • 6 forced fumbles
  • 2 fumble recoveries
  • 1x Second-Team All-Pro
  • 1x Pro Bowl
  • 2012 All-Rookie Team

Jack Rabbit is super accomplished and experienced! He instantly becomes a full-time starter and core part of the defense moving forward!

I'm looking forward to seeing him make plays in Nashville! We seriously need him too LOL.

DL Denico Autry (Colts)

Man this is a lowkey really big signing! Once again, defense is a huge need for the Titans and Denico is going to be a huge helpful addition. Denico is a versatile defensive lineman. He really has the size and skills to play inside or outside. A player with his skillset is going to be huge.

The Titans lost long-time DL for the Titans, Daquan Jones and so that's yet another reason to have Denico Autry. Denico is easily a tremendous replacement, if not perhaps better overall. Hopefully he is anyway.

Denico is a big, strong, skillful and experienced player that I believe will provide a really refreshing and needed push up on the defensive line. With Jeffery Simmons and Bud Dupree and others, this could really be a much improved defensive front.

The fact that Denico is coming from a division rival is also pretty sweet too. Denico has expressed a desire to seek a bit of revenge in 2021 as of course divisional teams play each other twice a season.

Denico has been in the NFL for seven seasons, while playing for two teams. Four with the Raiders, and three with the Colts. He has appeared in 96 games while starting in 56. He has accumulated the following stats in that time:

  • 30.5 sacks
  • 50 tackles for loss
  • 202 total combined tackles (141 solo)
  • 3 forced fumbles
  • 3 fumble recoveries
  • 17 passes defended

Welcome Denico!

WR Josh Reynolds (Rams)

The Titans lost notable pass catchers during this off-season like Corey Davis, Jonnu Smith and Kalif Raymond. There is definitely room for solid receivers and signing Josh Reynolds is a significant step in the right direction in replacing those guys.

I didn't know much about Reynolds when the team signed him. When I look up his numbers I like his production in his first four seasons. It was at the very least a pleasant surprise considering he was basically an unknown for me.

Reynolds was drafted by the Rams in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. In four seasons with the team Reynolds has appeared in every game, 64, while starting 24. In that time Reynolds has recorded the following career stats:

  • 113 receptions
  • 1,450 receiving yards
  • 9 receiving touchdowns

This could be a really nifty pickup! A solid receiving option for opposing defenses to think about in 2021 other than A.J. Brown.

He really reminds me of a better version of a receiver that the Titans used to have, Tajae Sharpe. He has good size and seems hard-nosed. Reynolds really looks like a solid pro receiver that will really help the receiving core!

Welcome to the squad Mr. Reynolds. Titans need some big plays in 2021!

CB Kevin Johnson (Browns)

If I haven't said it enough already, the Titans defense played really poorly a lot of times last year, and they also lost a lot of pieces on defense.

The Titans lost two corners and a safety. They signed three new secondary veteran players with at least some solid experience. Safety Matthias Farley, cornerback Janoris Jenkins, and now another cornerback in Kevin Johnson. Like I said before, not to mention the players the Titans do have remaining, and the upcoming draft.

The Titans seem to be doing a solid job at replacing those players the best they can. From what I can see on paper, I think it looks pretty good so far.

Kevin Johnson you could argue was a bit of a disappointment considering he was a former first round draft pick by the Texans in 2015. He is no longer with the Texans and ideally a first round pick stays around a lot longer, or at least the pick becomes a bit more of a notable pro.

But at the same time it doesn't mean Johnson has nothing to offer teams. I mean he is still in the league, which means his services are still desired. Johnson may not have panned out as an elite talent but it doesn't mean he isn't a good pro and can't make a secondary better.

In his six years as a pro, Johnson has played on three teams. Four seasons with the Texans, one with the Bills and one with the Browns. In that time Johnson has appeared in 64 games, while starting 25. He has recorded the following career stats:

  • 1 interception
  • 22 passes defended
  • 199 total combined tackles (153 solo)
  • 6 tackles for loss
  • 1.5 sacks
  • 1 forced fumble
  • 2 fumble recoveries

He seems like a good player that plays with great effort to me! Welcome to the team sir!

I like the job that General Manager Jon Robinson has done so far, I can't wait for the draft now to compliment these additions! #Titanup!
