Titans select LSU CB Kristian Fulton in Round Two of the 2020 NFL Draft

With the sixty-first overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft the Titans pick a high quality cornerback!! This position is very much a need for the Titans as well, so it is an awesome pick.

LSU Cornerback Kristian Fulton is a very good prospect at cornerback. Most people had him in their top five corners in this draft! Many mock drafts had Fulton going in the first round. The fact that the Titans were able to select him late in the second round is awesome. Sometimes guys just fall in the draft!

There aren't many major flaws in his game. He is solid everywhere. He has very good experience and skill when it comes to man to man coverage, and the Titans play man to man often! On the field he plays smooth and fast. He just seems like a pure football player. Fulton has very ideal size at the corner position as well. He stands at six feet tall, and about two-hundred pounds.

Fulton is honestly seen as a first round level prospect, so there isn't crazy negatives to say about him. The facts that he was a national champion in college and played in the SEC speak for themselves! He just needs to prove his skills in real life on the NFL field!

The Titans have a very solid secondary, but over the past year or so the depth at cornerback position has been thinning a bit. Last season the Titans lost Malcolm Butler for the season when he broke his wrist during the ninth game of the season. Adoree Jackson dealt with some nagging injuries last season and ended up missing five games. Malcolm and Adoree are two of the team's top three corners. That left cornerback Logan Ryan to be the last starting quality corner on the team. The team has decent depth and people stepped up the best they could, but it was definitely a struggle at times.

On top of everything I just mentioned, Logan Ryan is a free agent and it seems pretty likely he is going to sign elsewhere. So getting some quality talent like Fulton is huge!!

Like I have said before and continue to say, I believe in Jon Robinson's eye for talent. He has really done a solid job of bringing in good guys for the most part. Since Mike Vrabel has arrived he has shown he is a very good coach as well! So I believe the team will be able to make the best depth chart they can and develop the best they can at the corner position.

So, to quickly summarize the positives of picking Kristian Fulton:

  • No obvious weaknesses in his game
  • National Champion in college
  • Played in SEC (generally seen as the best conference in college football)
  • Projected first round talent, picked at 61 (great value hopefully)
  • Major positional need for Titans
