Thanks mate, I'd certainly love to hear more from other folks if I'm missing something on the Kestrel usage here. I know it was one of the first range calculators in addition to the wind, but it seems it may be outclassed now. It certainly gives a more accurate reading of the wind at least from the point of where it takes measurement. The remote capability it has for putting on a tripod like a little weather vane looks useful for range time, but not so much for hunting or even combat use given it's limited range and varied conditions between. I have to admit I'm not that experienced with it and would love to hear education on alternate opinions!

I have mates that use it but I've never really done so. I know they are good, but for the $1250 I'd have to fork out it was cheaper top learn how to call wind which I'm really good at. (+/- 1mph accuracy). It means I can also call wind down range, which a Kestrel cannot (through the scope and by eye).

one of my mates is KestrelAU so he knows everything there is to know about them and loves them. But he told me that the D3, like I have, is all I really need and I agree. Interestingly, only 5% of the AU sales are to shooters. Most are mining, primary producers, construction and industry.

For what you or I would need to do what you have will do everything and more. I cujld ask Mark if there are any tutes available? I'm speaking to him this week.
