It makes sense doesn't it? Many load a round when hunting though, then rely on the safety. No one I hunt with though.
Yes it does. I see it as “removing the risk”.
There's enough risk involved just through the nature of the beast I guess, no point adding to it. Of course, there are times when I may move with a round chambered, maybe into a better position to shoot a target, but after 30 years of shooting it's all done pretty safely. I lift the bolt into the up position which will not allow the gun to fire. It's not ideal, but better than missing the target.
I guess with culling split seconds count?
It can yes. Hunting too. A short second can make the difference of the shot being possible or not, and responsible hunters, and certainly profession cullers, will not take a shot on a maybe.
Smart choice.
