eFootball PES 2021 - Gameplay (PC HD)

A new season begins for the beautiful game, although, as Konami advanced a few months ago, this new edition of the expected eFootball PES will be somewhat more decaffeinated than usual. And it is that the Japanese developer made it clear that this campaign we would have an edition in the form of an update of the title that appeared in the last campaign with 2020.

The main reason was clear in that, from Konami, they are focusing on making a great leap to the new generation of consoles where they are already working on the edition of PES 2022 with the new Unreal Engine 5 engine. Therefore, we find eFootball PES 2021 a title that comes at a reduced price to comply with the current campaign and satisfy all fans of the saga. ¿It will be enough?

eFootball PES 2021 is aware of what it offers and thus it has been made clear in the title of the game where we appreciate the nickname of 'Season Update' therefore we are facing a seasonal update of the base title that appeared last year with eFootball PES 2020 In such a way, from now on we make it clear that this is not a new title but the one from last year updated with small improvements.

Now and after warming up a bit before continuing, we must make it clear that eFootball PES 2021 continues to follow one of the best football simulators that we can find in the current scenario, which comes with some tweaks compared to its previous installment and with well-established foundations after the best that the previous one was receiving with the update packages.

If you are a big fan of the saga, it will not take long to notice certain changes in the gameplay, and it is that Konami already bet on it in the last edition with a more intelligent and better defined AI. The goalkeepers feel even better than in the last edition, while one of the most annoying effects, such as the clash between players, is more polished. After many games behind our backs we have noticed a greater fluidity of the ball as it rolls faster on the pitch giving a greater sense of realism in the games, something that is particularly appreciated.

The shots remain in their original line feeling quite realistic and successful, to score good goals we must be quite good, while now defending will also be the key to define the games because, above all, the star players will continue to have special dribbles that can make us sweat the fat drop. The passes are still a want and I cannot in the saga because we will have to be very precise not to lose the ball and the AI is not the best when it comes to reading our intentions in the game.

When we play on the attack, we do notice the good work of the super stars like Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo because they will be capable of anything and leave us speechless with some plays if we know how to use them correctly. Therefore, in offensive lines, a faster transition is appreciated than in the last edition, giving an aspect of tension and realism in the meetings that is appreciated.

Leaving aside the classic realistic gameplay of PES and combining a little more in the game modes, as we have commented in the previous section, we are exactly the same as in the last edition except for the new management elements in MyClub where we can exercise 'Managers' to carry out signings, browse players, change tactics etc. Likewise and as an addition for those who arrive from the last edition we will find some 'bonuses' to continue with what was done in the previous campaign.

Likewise, new additions arrive to the Master League with new licensed coaches such as the iconic Pep Guardiola, Frank Lampard or Ryan Giggs who join the old acquaintances of the previous edition beyond that it is still the same mode of the last edition.

eFootBall PES 2021 is the final goodbye to the FOX Engine that has given such good results to the franchise in this generation. The finish of the players, stadiums and kits continues to be magnificent and with a quite realistic result in terms of the movements of the players and their expressions on the field, but... everything remains exactly the same as in the last edition so I do not know appreciate apparent changes.

PES will prepare for the arrival of Unreal Engine 5 in what will be the opening of the saga in the new generation, so we are facing a transition title and or a small patch for what awaits us. Regarding the sound section, everything remains the same, the comments of Carlos Martinez and Maldini are still 'correct' although it is still the lamest section of the saga as it continues to repeat expressions ad nauseam, although the soundtracks included in the menus are still a delight.

The multiplayer modes are still a great success in PES and the ranking systems are still exactly the same as in PES 2021 so in this section we can add little, we will continue trying to move up the division getting points for victories and the possibility of participating in the always frantic online championships. From the licensing point of view, here we have a big drawback and it is that everything seems to be done with scraps with very few licensed teams outside of F.C. Barcelona, Bayern, Juventus or Manchester United although Konami has already warned that everything will undergo a great change with the great free update that we will find on October 22.

What I think of the game after playing

eFootball PES 2021 yes or no? Well, it depends a lot on how fans of the saga we are, because we are facing a title that is exactly the same as the previous one, although with "updated" templates because until October 22 it seems to have taken everything with scraps.

The simulation is still a delight, and a great proposal on the lawn, but beyond some minor changes in the gameplay everything remains the same. The discount is a success for those who own the previous edition and for new players the reduced price of the game is an addition, but in general we expected a little more effort in the development of this new installment.
