There was great anticipation for the Styrian Grand Prix, the second of this unfortunate 2020 in a totally overturned formula 1.
Ferrari was called to surprise again in the race as at the beginning, after having packed yet another nightmarish qualifying.
A race that would have seen the two Ferraris in difficulty and forced to chase, but that could have given some points and above all extra laps to be put in the factory to better adapt the set up in view of the many close Grand Prix to come.
LeClerc started fourteenth.
Vettel eleventh.
Ready and go.
The two touch.
Vettel has the worst of it.
Both hijacked at the pits.
The safety car comes in.
Vettel forced to pull out immediately.
LeClerc goes for a spin.
Then he retires.

Five minutes and no Ferrari is in the race.
It's a disaster.

We're not the favourites and not even remotely capable of aiming for the podium permanently.
In addition to Mercedes, this year Red Bull and McLaren also seem to be ahead this year, with Toro Rosso and Renault in a big dusting.
Finding tenths in pole and fighting for the points zone in race could be the habit of 2020.
The leap of LeClerc in the debut had only deluded.
The reality is that we are facing the annus horribilis also for Ferrari.
Faced with such a bad performance would require rigor and mental order, and respect, in the team, between the drivers and the internal teams.
Judging from today it would seem that Binotto and his team have not even managed to preserve harmony in a team that will see Vettel out of Maranello at the end of the year.
The race was won, as usual, by Hamilton, followed by Bottas and Verstappen.

C'era moltissima attesa per il gran premio di Stiria, il secondo di questo sfortunato 2020 in una formula 1 totalmente stravolta.
La Ferrari era chiamata a sorprendere nuovamente in gara come all'esordio, dopo aver confezionato l'ennesima qualifica da incubo.
Una gara che avrebbe visto le 2 Ferrari in difficoltà e costrette ad inseguire, ma che avrebbe potuto regalare qualche punto e soprattutto giri in più da mettere in cascina per adeguare al meglio l'assetto in vista dei tanti gran premi ravvicinati che verranno.
LeClerc partiva quattordicesimo.
Vettel undicesimo.
Pronti e via.
I 2 si toccano.
Vettel ha la peggio.
Entrambi dirottati ai box.
Entra la safety car.
Vettel costretto a ritirarsi immediatamente.
LeClerc ci prova per un giro.
Poi si ritira.
Anche lui.
5 minuti e nessuna Ferrari è in gara.
Un disastro.
Su tutta la linea.
La Ferrari di quest'anno non è competitiva.
Meglio guardarsi negli occhi ed ammetterlo immediatamente.
Non siamo i favoriti e neppure lontanamente capaci di ambire al podio stabilmente.
Oltre alla Mercedes, quest'anno anche Red Bull e McLaren sembrano essere davanti, con Toro Rosso e Renault in gran spolvero.
Trovarsi decimi in pole e in lotta per la zona punti in gara potrebbe essere l'abitudine del 2020.
Il guizzo di LeClerc all'esordio aveva solo illuso.
La realtà è che siamo di fronte all'annus horribilis anche per la Ferrari.
Di fronte a prestazioni cosi pessime dal punto di vista delle performance ci vorrebbe un rigore e ordine mentale, e rispetto, in scuderia, fra i piloti e i team interni.
A giudicare da oggi sembrerebbe che Binotto e la sua squadra non siano riusciti a preservare neppure l'armonia in una scuderia che vedrà Vettel fuori da Maranello a fine anno.
La gara l'ha vinta, come al solito, Hamilton, seguito da Bottas e Verstappen.
Lando Norris ancora super protagonista.
