You might think that self defense technique does not work. There are two reasons if that happens. First, the technique is not useful for self defense in real-life situations, and second, the technique is useful, but you cannot use it properly, that's why it does not work.
Welcome back to Self Defense Situation # 133. Every situation is different and you cannot fit one thing in every situation. What works in one situation, that might not work in another situation. When you fight for self defense, your move should be based on the situation.
When you apply any self defense technique, the attacker's strength, skills, and the situation you are in influence the whole process. Of course, a bigger and stronger guy will use his strength and size to his advantage.
Let's watch a video where it shows how to defend yourself if the attacker grabs your neck and pulls you towards him. All video credit goes Shahabuddin karate. So why would you find it difficult to use against a stronger opponent?
When the attacker grabs your neck and pulls you like this, your head will go very close to his body. The attacker uses his body and arms to lock you up and make sure that you cannot move. The situation can get worse if you find it hard to breathe.
In order to defend yourself, you have to act fast to stop him from getting your neck close to his body. As soon as the attacker grabs your neck and pulls, you should grab his hand that holds your neck. That's the first line of defense.
Anyway, in this video, it shows to grab the attacker's hand later. I recommend grabbing the attacker's hand first so that he cannot put more pressure on your neck and move you close to his body.
Then you can grab his face or chin with the other hand and apply pressure to get rid of this situation. You can strike him instantly and leave the place as soon as you can.
So what would you do to defend yourself in this situation? Please feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section. Stay safe. Always be happy!
