Why Is It Difficult To Defend The First Punch?

Once the fight starts, you see it clearly and you have to defend yourself. Today we are going to talk about why it is difficult to defend the first punch. It could be a sucker punch or just punch and then follow up with other strikes.

You feel that something is wrong. The attacker is in front of you, but you did not think he would attack you suddenly. Most of the time, you have no idea that you will be attacked. The attackers make plans to trap you.

If it's a robbery or any sort of attack, the attackers usually put in a position where you cannot do much. Most of the time, you are in a vulnerable position, and you cannot run to get out of there.

You might think you would defend the punch. Your hands are not up, so even you try to block or defend yourself, the attacker has already hit you. So your block or parry does not work.

In case you are not aware of the situation, there is a high chance you will not be able to make your move to defend the first punch. Maybe someone is following you and you do not realize that. The attacker gets close to you and punches you right away.

If you are not able to detect the punch coming, you cannot defend that. Can you see the guy making a distance and angel his body? Probably, he is going to punch you.

When you are in a situation like this, you are afraid and shocked, you get freeze for the time being. It would become easy for the attacker to punch you.

To defend yourself against the first punch, first of all, do not get in the punching range. So in case the attacker is about to punch you, he has to move forward to get in the punching range first, and you have some extra time to defend that.

If the attacker looks outside, maybe he tries to scape or maybe he is just checking out where there is any person around there or not. Then he is going to attack you.

So what do you think about defending the first punch? Is it difficult or easy? Please feel free to leave your comments below. Thank you so much for reading this post.

Stay safe. Always be happy!

Good advice my friend!

Normal reaction speeds are slower than most punches!

Yes, that makes it difficult to defend the first punch. When the attacker starts punching and your hands are up, you can defend punches easily that time. I share things from my training and experience.

Glad to see you on Hive, my friend @martiallee! :)
