Rabona soccer manager, a massive-multiplayer online soccer management game, is my favouraite game on the Hive blockchain and I've stayed around in the last 53 seasons, each season which lasts for 7.12 days. Being the coach, technical manager and CEO of FC Creativians over the last 53 seasons has been nothing short of fun and a challenge to succeed. Rabona game tasks its players to build and develop his team (setting formation, training players and general players management) and manage the financials of his club with the goal of leading the club to the top of the league, and grandly become the champion.
Hours ago, we concluded the 52nd season of the game and my team finished at the 6th rank on League 2 with 60 points and 23 goals difference. That was not my dream position for the season as the team had maintained the top spot up until the 22nd (out of 30 matches) match. In fact, with just 10 points less from the league champion, one can see the level of competition that existed within the top 6 prank holders in the league. However, in every tournament, a winner must emerge. Losing this tem showed that there's something I was yet to do for the team as a coach and technical manager.
Despite the hit, we earned 0.607 HIVE from the pool of reward allocated for the season. Each season, the Rabona dev set aside as much as 200 to 500 HIVE to be distributed to players depending on their position on the league and points gathered. The overall champion of Season 52 earned 12.5 HIVE ($10) and that's a massive reward. In addition to the HIVE shared from the rewards pool, my team has been able to mop a net earning of 18 million RBN (in-game NFT for Rabona) from managing our asset. The income sources constitute match ticked from fans (fans population grows with team performance and popularity), sales of team shirts and scarfs, cafeteria, hotel and parking lot revenue among others.
It therefore follows that asides the fun, engaging Rabona hones the enterprising spirit in its players and helps them become better business owners and investors. My player salaries increased over the last season and that reduced my net RBN earning from the 20 million mark. It's been an amazing journey so far and looking forward to when new features like Tournament would be added to improve the functionality of the game as well as draw more players and investors to the game and token. At the moment, FC Creativians pooled at least $3 in the concluded Season 52 and that was pretty nice.

I still haven't worked out how to keep my wages down, but still be able to re-sign my good players to new contracts.
The new contracts are just always insanely high and not worth it.
If I did re-sign them, I just couldn't sustain the total wage bill anymore, so am forced to let them expire and sign worse players again.
Do you have any advice on finding the balance between actually having a good team and a profitable team?

That's always the case with a new team. What's your team ID?
That's just one of the ways to sink the RBN inflation.
Sincerely, you need to buy RBN from the market. They are way cheap. That would help you upgrade your stadium, cafeteria and shop capacities to improve your earnings. As for the players, you'll need to purchase new ones with at least 60 ratings as a new team then soon, you'll break-even. My break-even was at the 7th season and since then, its a win-win.

You're right from a tokenomics perspect.
But I wish there was more of a balance that still let me renew contracts and actually improve my team.
I have been upgrading everything (except my shop which is only level 2 and still loses money - something else I don't know how to fix).
I'm just a bit disillusioned because I'm nowhere near making money from the game and I'm also not able to move up because I can't renew contracts without blowing my wage bill up.
