Not the start of the season I had hoped for as I almost haven't been able to win a single bet just yet. On the bright side, I haven't taken any offilial big ones yet and the season is still very long. This year there will also be a match each monday as they want to squeeze out as much money from the viewing rights as humanly possible. I'm not sure how I feel about it but it is what it is. 2 games tonight both played at the same time as they don't want them to be played at the same time as the European games.
Oostende vs Beerschot
This season there are many charges in Oostende, there is a new board, a new coach and some of the A-Squad players who were not able to convince last season left. The goal of their project is to play with a lot of pressing and young players who were picked based on data. Oostende did not play the best preparation matches only winning 2 from the last 5 always getting a goal against also scoring in 4 of those matches themselves. Beerschot played the match for promotion in 2d division 3 years in a row and now finally made it after the win against OHL (which they didn't even need as both promoted). If anything Beerchot can count on a solid defense which is the main thing they start with and rarely get 2 goals or more scored against. They do however have only 3 players with experience in the 1st division. I can see why bookies estimate this as an evenly matched game. I did take a small pre-game position on

Oud-Heverlee Leuven vs Eupen
OHL lost the final for promotion against Beerschot and looked in particular vulnerable in the defense. They have a disadvantage as they were unsure about promotion which made it hard to prepare and fully be ready for the new season. They were excellent in the first period in the 2nd division last season but failed to continue this in the 2nd period. Eupen only has 12 of the 27 players that started last season left in their team. Especially in the offense they lost Prevljak and have to do only with Musona. The main question will be how their coach approaches the match as he switched numerous times between playing naively offensive and all-out defense (against top teams). I kind of hope Eupen will become a crazy over team again like they were a while back but I doubt they will go that route. Overall I have no clue how to estimate this match and these teams so I will just sit back, watch and learn.
