So it has been decided to move the Euro 2020 out to 2021 which was an obvious choice and the only one really available. The tournament is being hosted right across Europe in 12 different cities, so the uncertainty was the issue.

If UEFA had left this decision any later the chaos would have been terrible as hotels need to be confirmed and everything else that goes along with moving a team and support staff between the various countries. Not only that, but fans need to sort out their own packages with hotels and flights.

What UEFA has done is allowed the various Leagues around Europe a chance to finish their own Leagues properly by giving them this time. With so much uncertainty around there will be windows and opportunities to get games completed behind closed doors. I think that is the priority right now without involving the fans.

Sergio Ramos training at home.

Players will need to keep training daily whether at home staying fit or with the team at the training grounds in order to be ready at a moments notice. I cannot see teams not training or stopping for long periods so I don't see why they can't be back playing.

Every squad or team is going to recover from this at different times so setting dates is stupid. Surely the answer is for each team to liaise with their next opponents on setting a date behind closed doors. Rather be proactive and positive than just creating any delays when there shouldn't be any. I suppose it all boils down to finances as teams would prefer to have some gate receipts and claw back some lost revenue. Personally I would rather play the games than see the season written off and I am sure most of the players feel the same way.

I think every League will have to decide for themselves as there are so many angles being thought out right now how teams can benefit from scrapping or playing the remaining matches. Sport is not like it was 40 or 50 years ago as there is so much money involved today and there are very few straight talkers.
