Monte Carlo Rally Night Show And A Spectacular Crash

Really Impressive crash this morning. Driver and navigator were not injured. Don't laugh as this was serious and could have been really bad.

Last night the Monte Carlo rally got under way with huge crowds of spectators lining the hair pin bends of the hill climb. This is great for viewing, but imagine being a driver having fireworks and flares going off all around you. The smoke and lights surely would hamper your viewing as we all know what bright lights can do to night vision.

I can understand the spectators seeing this as a great vantage point and it looked really impressive. This was the easy section though as the road at the top had ice sections and luckily wasn't lined with many spectators. I have soon come to realise that you will find larger groups of spectators at the more dangerous bits. Humans are a sick bunch when they see pleasure in the crashing part of the race. I don't mind as long as no one gets hurt, but also like to see the skill of the drivers maneuvering the cars around like a toy.

The result of that spectacular crash .Very lucky as it could have been worse.

The massive crash by Ott Tanak today just shows you how much the drivers push to try and make up time. The car was mid way through the second section of the day and unfortunately was on a high speed section. I have never seen a car do a barrel roll before and what is remarkable is how they both got out ok. I honestly thought after watching this that there is no ways they aren't injured or dead. I think they were lucky that the car chopped part of the tree down as they were still up high enough to avoid the trunk. Tanak has had some impressive crashes in the past with one giving him the nick name Titanik as he did something similar, but at a much slower speed going into a lake in Mexico.

The difference between success and failure is literally centimeters. Luckily for them both the cars today are built to protect the driver and navigator. If the car had gone off at a different angle though at that speed, trees are killers and no matter how strong the protective shell is the chances of being unscathed would have been reduced.

This is just day one and with more than 2 days still to play out hopefully no one gets hurt.

Wow, that was pretty crazy. I have seen cars roll on their sides before, but not end over end like that. Glad everyone was okay.

they hit the tree after the roll, if they hit it at the start of the crash i think it would be bad. it is fascinating that people can walk out from a crash like this with minor injuries.

in the last video, great reaction time, even after the roll they were out of the car just 3 seconds after they hit the water.

Very quick reaction time and I was a little surprised at how quickly the car sunk.

i was too, but maybe it was because they opened the door right away so they let water in at full speed.
