Ole Is Delusional

Soccerex have a ranking system that looks at 5 criteria.

  1. Value of the squad.
  2. Money in the bank.
  3. The grounds and Facilities
  4. Owner investment
  5. Debt.

It is not surprising to see other clubs overtaking them in the rankings as they have achieved nothing in the last decade and have spent many seasons out of the Champions League.

Ole Gunner Solskjaer is not worried though as he has stated that United still have pulling power to attract the top players. I am afraid those days have long gone and the new generation has seen nothing from this once powerful club. A name means absolutely nothing if you are not performing.

United pay over the top odds for so called "superstars" ,but I think this is the wrong approach now for this team. The squad needs to be changed keeping two or three players at the most. Don't go and buy top level players ,but players better than you have now. It is impossible to change all the players in one transfer window.Within 5 years you can turn the squad around bit by bit and then add the top players you so desperately want.

Every season you are adding one or two players that are so called top players to a weak squad. The team is only as strong as your weakest player and United have many. You could put Messi in the team and he will look as bad as the rest of them as that is why it is a team sport.

The problem United have right now and that is other clubs like Liverpool are being more successful and it is these clubs that will attract the top players. These clubs are also picking up new sponsorship deals which they can negotiate far more due to their success. United are dropping in value every season and the team of yesteryear is becoming a distant memory.

Changing the manager again at the end of the season wont help as the main problem still remains and that is a squad of overrated players who are at best second string and by no means a first choice for most Premiership sides.

Interestingly, ever since Ole came to the club he has been the one who has steered away from that idea that Manchester United should be paying above the odds for players. Ole delusional? NO!

The main reason United have been losing money is because of that strategy of buying players above the market rate and on massive wages which then leaves the club unable to sell them on- ie Sanchez.

However, since Ole came he has been sanitizing the club of those kind of players, selling them or loaning them out and bringing in younger players on longer contracts at least 5 years.

That means the original contract is in effect for a good amount of their playing time at the club before they can come back in to negotiate for more pay and perks.

That said, United will be back on top in a couple of years if they stick with Ole-- Hopefully!

He is delusional thinking that the name Manchester United will attract the top players and Champions League football won't make any difference. Of course players will only look at clubs if they have a chance of winning trophies and playing in Europe. If they miss out again this season which is highly likely then the players that they want to sign will look elsewhere.

I totally get that. You have to imagine though that United don't really need players coming in because we just got Champions League. What we need is players coming in to help us compete and ready for that challenge not glory hunters. So, in a way, good riddance?
