My Top 42 NFL Quarterbacks Entering 2020 - #8 and #7

avatar

Every NFL fan has got their own ideas about what attributes are most important for a good quarterback to have. Do you value football IQ over athleticism? Pocket passing or mobility? Game manager or gunslinger? A great quarterback probably needs to pretty good in all of those areas. I thought it would be fun to share my list of the NFL's top forty-two quarterbacks.

Sports media nowadays is purely out for profit and clicks. It's ridiculous. NFL analysts are so skewed by what gets them the most clicks and the most money that their opinions end up sounding completely absurd.

I'm not about to claim that my rankings are more accurate than other people's. Ranking quarterbacks is not exactly rocket science and there are only so players to pick from anyway. But I will try my best to not be influenced by mainstream media.

I have my complete list already done and I will be spreading out my list throughout a series of posts. I used my own criteria and my own opinions to create my list.

#8 - Lamar Jackson - Baltimore Ravens

Lamar Jackson is a good quarterback, that's why I have him at #8. But I am not even close to putting him near #1 or something crazy like that. Everybody seems to think he is like an unheard of talent. I am not one of those people. As of his amazing last season though he has earned a really good spot like this one.

This guy is very talented and super athletic. He has got amazing running ability that completely stresses teams out. He is normally probably the fastest guy on the field. His running ability makes his passing game much easier. To say otherwise would be dishonest. Teams have an entire different aspect to worry about when they play the Ravens and Lamar.

If you follow football there is not much else to say about Lamar honestly. He is electric and lethal I will give him that. But if you can manage to earn respect defensively and bottle up his scrambling ability a bit, he does become pretty average. At least I have not seen enough evidence to prove otherwise.

I clearly have a lot of mixed emotions when it comes to Lamar Jackson. It just really bothers me that the media wants to act like this guy is like a godly quarterback. But I do admit he is very good, he's definitely on Michael Vick's level maybe slightly better.

I don't know how much longer he can keep this level of play up though, he needs to be able to take from Russell Wilson or even Cam Newton and take his pocket passing game to the next level. If he can do that then perhaps he will have a long career. If he continues to only rely on his scrambling ability, I don't believe his body will keep up.

But if he can continue this level of play he will be a legend. He may have a few years left of being able to run his butt off all over the field. He is an MVP though, so he is #8.

#7 - Carson Wentz - Philadelphia Eagles

Carson Wentz has proven to me that he is here to stay. He was a borderline MVP a few years ago. I know Nick Foles took over and won that Super Bowl as the starting quarterback since Carson was hurt, but to say Carson was not an instrumentally important player during that regular season, would be dishonest. He is still a Champion. He's been a Pro Bowler. He helped lead a massively banged up Eagles team to the playoffs.

The guy is a good leader. He has every skill you want in a QB. Good athleticism, good arm strength and accuracy and a good football IQ.

The only flaw I can think of is he gets jittery and panicky in the pocket a bit too much at times. He's slightly injury prone but only slightly.

Otherwise the Eagles have their guy for the next decade in my opinion. Especially if he keeps improving.

Thanks man, I am very happy! Disappointing that blocktrades thought I didn't deserve $3.30 though. Overall I am grateful still!

I'm guessing it's more against the people that upvoted you than against you.
