Football without audience, produces different results!

Fierce home fans

Some clubs in some countries are renouned for their home fans. I am talking about Borussia Dortmund, Olympique Marseille, Millwall FC, Club Brugge, and many others. And because of this falling away this season, it has a big effect on results.
Just a few weeks ago, Borussia Dortmund lost at home with 1-5. That would never, ever happen with public on the seats and stands.
Just like today in Belgium, the battle of Flanders was held, with Club Brugge playing at home against KAA Gent. The result was 0-1 for Gent. But I saw the game and am quite sure that the result with audience would have been very different. The home crowd of Club Brugge would have inspired the team more, and not unimportant, they would have also influenced the referee much more. This is a very big factor in home games. The referee is always influenced by the home crowd. Sometimes subtle, sometimes much less subtle. But it happens a lot.

Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund looks much less intimidating than with crowd

So this factor, will influence the end result of league standings at the end of the season. I am sure that teams with such an audience will have less points than they normally have.

This will of course be in the advantage of clubs with a "theatre" audience as it is called. Not bad to take this into the equasion!

Sincerely,
