Dusting my running shoes off (again!)

I just finished a 5.076km running that lasted about 0hh:31mm:41ss !

TL:DR - An unpleasantly muggy run, yuck!

Once again it has been a few weeks since I have dragged myself outside for a run. Strava tells me it's been four whole weeks, which just isn't good enough frankly. I have been feeling increasingly fat and frumpy the last couple of weeks, and stepping on the scales confirmed what I had expected.

Its evident I need to get back outside running again. Please note though, I don't run for weight-loss, there are better (and more efficient) exercises for that. I run to improve physical fitness, and its a form of exercise I actively enjoy. The extra benefit of running for me though, is the fact that I generally eat healthier better less junk food. It is easier to control what I eat, and much easier to say no to eating high calorie foods if I am training regularly.

Today's run was just about getting outside and moving again. The route was an easy 5km route around the village. It was a good thing, I picked an easy route because A. my fitness is appalling and B. the weather was muggy and unpleasant. I love walking in the sun, and generally I like hot days. But I hate exercising in it. Back during Winter I was wearing just shorts and a t-shirt in temperatures of 3-5C and I was comfortable. Now in Summer its 20C and humid and sticky. I didn't push hard today and I still arrived home dripping in sweat.

At least I got the run done, and once I can try to get to some sort of regular routine. I do have some good news with my hours increasing at work finally, but it does mean I will need to be better organised in fitting my runs in. And on that note I'm gonna go for a nice COLD shower...

Well done on getting out there anyway. I don't like it too hot for running, but I'm fine in the cold. Just have to get out before it warms up too much. I do feel that all that sweating ought to do me some good as it's like I've been in a sauna.

Cheers! The heat just makes it harder than it needs to be lol, I'd rather run in the rain instead.

Will definitely have to tru getting out earlier in the day (I'm not a morning person though so we'll see how that goes
