Savlje

Sunday morning run was supposed to be in the morning and longer. It turned out to be at noon and 10 K long. OK, life happens.

What about this local @hivelander, you might ask? I'll explain it later.

What happened at 8 am, after the daylight saving time system forced us to move the clock one hour forward, was that Hive-Engine Witness nodes were out of sync. It took us (us being the masterminds behind the node software with me tagging along) most of the day to figure out the solution to the symptom. At the time I am restoring the database for the third time today. If everything goes right my node will be in sync tomorrow morning.

So the run was late. I went out for a flat run on the right bank of the Sava river to the north.

I was having doubts whether my Coros watch is showing the right time (GPS doubts related to the time change) so I stopped it and restarted to watch. That's why this run is measured in two parts.

Anyway, here's the river again from the other side as yesterday.

The goal was to run 10 K and the solution was to turn to the west and run through the Savlje suburb of Ljubljana. The @pinmapple pin marks the spot where I met this weird character.

It's the statue marking the local tradition and event of Štehvanje. Men on horses try to hit the barrel with a stick. He who breaks the barrel to pieces wins.

I told you it's weird. The statue included. It's somewhat out of proportion to my artistically untrained eye.

After ten kilometers of a pleasant run in a drizzle, I came home to realize my Hive-Engine witness node is out of sync again. Oh, happy day :)

Never mind, it's just computer stuff where things happen out of thin air for no apparent reason. Later, when you find out what the reason was, you feel silly and ask yourself, how could this stupid thing come to be?
