Hacking My Brain To Run Faster

(Edited)

I just finished a 11.127km running that lasted about 0hh:54mm:17ss !

Tried something a little different tonight after struggling with my tempo run last week.

I have been working on a 6km tempo run and needed to push it up to a 7km run the past two weeks. Last week the task seemed so daunting even after being able to run for 6km at race pace for about 4 weeks.

I decided today to do it a little differently, run at pace for 6km, take it easy for 200m, then run the final 800m at what ever pace I could handle. Not sure why it worked this week, but by 7km run was under my hopeful race pace.

I have always believed my head was getting in my way a lot of the time, especially over the past one or two years, so glad I have been able to find a way to almost get around it.

You have uploaded 308 running activities, and 48 of them have been of similar distances (within 10 percent)!
Here are your 5-fastest running activities of a similar distance:

Over these 48 similar activities, you have travelled approximately 525.89 kms at an average pace of roughly 5:00 min/km!
Your latest run was at a pace of approximately 4.878min/km!
Looks like you went a bit faster than usual this time! Nice work!

Running is definitely partly mental. Just have to find what works for you.

Agreed, and thanks for the beer...Its funny that the older I get, the more it seems to be a mental issue for me though

I keep telling myself it's all in the head as I try to break the 55 min barrier for 10k. Then I actually set out for a run and I realize it's also my lungs, feet, arms, back and Kidneys suffering....😂
