I just finished a 180.704km cycling that lasted about 5hh:42mm:10ss !

I posted things a little back to front with my run leg for the race yesterday: https://hive.blog/hive-176853/@run.vince.run/xhst-activity-1616834836

It had been a little cooler over the weeks before so I did opt for a extra top out on the bike leg but it was very humid and warm and was probably not the best option. I was dousing myself with water during the ride to try and cool myself down.

The race was a two lap course out of Taupo(New Zealand) and back with the wind picking up quite a bit for the second lap but it did mean we had a tail wind for the final 45km back into town before our run leg.

I actually took 4 minutes off my previous personal best for a 180km ride. I'll take it, as it was a challenging ride and had a good time...One day after, even when I can't walk and really had a tough day out there thinking of how I could have gone faster and maybe I need to enter another one of these races some time soon...Will see.

Stay Strong Everyone!

I marvel that anyone can cycle that far and then run a marathon. Were there a lot of people competing? How much do you eat and drink during the event? I assume there must be 'rest stops'. Well done!

All good questions @steevc The numbers were about half due to no international racers at about 530. I try to eat a lot of energy bars on the bike but will only stop if I need a toilet break. There is a bit of walking for me on the run leg though.
