Morning Run: Better late than never

I just finished a 6.701km running that lasted about 0hh:37mm:36ss !

I am struggling to get up early. I was awoken by a noisy dawn chorus at some point and then the cat was restless and loud at about 6:15, so I went back to sleep. By the time I got out some kids were heading to school. Some hears of the primary and middle school went back this week after a couple of months off.

My Garmin watch was playing up a bit today. I set it for my long intervals run, but it did not seem to be starting properly. I think it was actually okay, but I ended up improvising the first sprint and it was a bit shorter than it should have been. There were several other runners out on the Pendleton Way cycle path (named after our local Olympian), but they were all going the opposite way to me. I just did the basic run out to Stotfold with a diversion past the allotments on the way back. By then I was wanting my breakfast.

I managed a couple of 4:52 kilometres, so I am happy with the run. I am contemplating a really long run on Sunday, so I may just run on Thursday before then to save my legs.

Run fast and stay well.

It's always good to put in a run before breakfast :)

Good luck on Sunday.

Ps: walk breaks during long runs?

I jog between the sprints and seem to recover a bit.

Good.

For the long runs, you can even walk every 15 minutes and take a drink or a bite while walking.

I am with you 100%! I had to start back to my work office this week so my wife and I have been getting up at 5:45 so we can get a walk in before I leave. It has been horrible. I got so used to sleeping in until 8!

When I was at work I would be up around 6:15, but I am staying up a bit later now. Just need the cat to hold off until at least 7 and then I would be happy to get up.

I am not able to be consistent with this work out thing. How come your cat always disturbs your sleep?
Are kids back to school in the uk?

The cat is used to me being up earlier or she is just hungry then. Some school years just went back this year after the schools being closed for a couple of months.
