Morning Run - Streak day 6
I just finished a 6.584km running that lasted about 0hh:36mm:11ss !
Another day, another run. I was not dreading it as the legs are doing okay and I generally feel fine. My bruised toe has shed the nail, but it looks like a new one is growing and there is no pain there. The main issue tends to be getting out of bed, but once I am up I just head out, although I had to attend to the cat first.
I was going to do the 30-20-10 intervals, but decided to improvise with some fartlek instead. The first sprint was down the length of House Lane and I managed my second best time on that segment. It is still not great, but then I am not really warmed up when I get there. I did a series of sprints along the cyclepath to Stotfold. The pace graph is very up and down, showing that I was achieving a substantial change. Some of the sprints were quite short, but from what I have read that is still valuable.
There seemed to be a lot of teenagers walking from Stotfold toward Arlesey. They may have been heading for the station. It is a brighter day today with mostly blue skies. Despite this it was not too warm for me.
I think doing the slower run yesterday allowed me to recover enough to perform better today. I think I will take it easy tomorrow and then take Saturday off. A whole week of running is an achievement. I will have done over a marathon in total. Mind you, I found a guy from India on Strava who was running three times each day totalling around 30km. He had managed to keep this up for at least a month. That is a different league. I feel no need to beat what others are doing as I have my own goals.
Fun free and stay well.

You must have looked like a crazy man with all those sprints!
It's GCSE results day! Hence the teenagers, possibly going into school to get their results old school style, or just to say a farewell, schools have probably organised sort of 'goodbye' thing today surely!
I feel sorry for any teacher that was honest with the grades they submitted!
I can be a little self-conscious, but then I don't know most of the people I see, so just go for it. The upper school is a bit further away and not on the train route, but maybe they were getting a lift. We've had the A level drama with my son, but he was not relying on specific grades. It's been a very odd year for the kids and they ought to be given a break so they can move on with their lives.
exactly! I know my own abilities are far behind other runners. I am out of shape, and with three surgeries on one knee. It's going to take me time to run free and for long distances.
I am happy enough that I can run better than most people my age. Hope your knee is not too bad. I have been lucky to escape serious issues so far.
Look at you go! Nice job. That is good that you have found a way to mix things up so that you are able to keep the streak alive! I remember reading a book a while ago where they were training a guy (like a mercenary) and they used this method of short sprints through the woods so you can run longer.
As I understanding it the changes in effort induce changes to the heart and other systems to improve your performance. I ought to read more about it or find a trainer to work with, but this is all just for fun. I know a lot of military folk are really fit and probably have their own regimes to get there.
Nice to know that your legs feel better. I definitely agree with you taking a rest on Saturday just so the body can breathe. Belive me i haven't been able to keep up with you and you show no sign of slowing down. Lol. Keep up the good job.
I have surprised myself as I thought I would struggle more over the week. I think this shows the good my previous training has done.
