Morning Run - Back to the hill

I just finished a 6.948km running that lasted about 0hh:38mm:10ss !

My back is definitely better today. My run on Tuesday was a gentle test of my body, but today I went out a bit harder. I generally tend to start a bit slow, but after a kilometre or so I had picked up some pace. The climb up West Drive was not too bad, but I was working hard. I had decided to do a loop around Fairfield. It was cool out again and Strava says it is humid too. I tend to find that once I am warmed up I do not notice the cold even in just a t-shirt and shorts.

I saw a few other runners out there. Fairfield is good for runners as you can stay away from the roads most of the time and it has enough undulations to give you a workout. I also saw a grey squirrel.

Coming down the hill was a bit easier, but I did not go for crazy speed this time. I will save that for my next 'not parkrun'. Then it was the flat way home with a bit of a sprint at the end.

It is good to be running again and knowing that I have not lost too much fitness, although it was just a short break. It may have given my muscles some time to heal. My attempt to run every day for a week may have left me vulnerable to injury. It is all a learning experience.

I saw @revisesociology post about nasal breathing. I have tried this before, but I may have been doing it wrong as I could not get enough air in my lungs whilst running. It seems opinions vary on this, so I may stick with what feels natural. I am not competing with anyone, so small improvements are not a big issue for me.

Run free and stay well.

Your latest run was at a pace of approximately 5.493min/km!
Looks like you went a bit faster than usual this time! Nice work!

My nose basically closes up when I run so I can't do this nasal breathing thing.

I'm not sure if that is my issue, but it just feels wrong to me. We are all different.

Nice job! My back is doing better too. My muscles are also a bit less sore from the weight training I did. It really feels great to get back into the habit of exercising even if I still can't stand the getting up at 4 am part...

You need to look after your back, as I have learnt from experience. Making exercise a habit is great as I think it ought to be part of your life rather than a chose. Not that I can get up that early. I try to be up by 8 even though I don't have to go to work.
