Morning Run - Running up that hill

avatar

I just finished a 6.516km running that lasted about 0hh:36mm:46ss !

We had a bit of a change in the weather yesterday with loads of rain. It is brighter today, but quite cool as I headed out. I did not really have a plan for this run, but I went to our nearest hill, which is West Drive that leads from Arlesey up to the old Fairfield asylum that is now housing. It is a 20m+ climb, which is not much for some people, but the biggest climb near here.

I did my best to sprint up the hill in a couple of short stretches, but I seemed to be lacking energy. The second climb was a bit quicker. I went right to the top of that path each time, but you can go a bit higher around there.

Despite all the rain there were just a few puddles to avoid. The second time I came down there was a runner in bright yellow up ahead. I did not catch him, but then there was someone close behind me who did not manage to overtake.

I took it easy on the way home with a diversion around the back of our block. It is busy around the school, but I avoided some of the crowds. I do not really feel self-conscious when running, but I do get the odd remark from cheeky people. Nothing like that today, but I did see my friend Jon taking his kids to school and he said hello.

There is a chance of more rain today, but I am not planning to go anywhere. I do have running kit in the wash and would like to get that out to dry.

Run free and stay well.

You have uploaded 196 running activities, and 58 of them have been of similar distances (within 10 percent)!
Here are your 5-fastest running activities of a similar distance:

Over these 58 similar activities, you have travelled approximately 386.64 kms at an average pace of roughly 5:50 min/km!
Your latest run was at a pace of approximately 5.642min/km!
Looks like you went a bit faster than usual this time! Nice work!

I noticed your DT promotion scheme. Have your FOSS friends ostracised you for promoting this dodgy crypto thing? Hive is actually more open than some other platforms as the code is out there and anyone can run a node. I am surprised it has not taken off more amongst those who prize freedom.

It's one way to get noticed. You said I had to put a bit more effort in, maybe you should take yourself outside and give yourself a damn good talking to? 🤣 🤣 🤣

Maybe they know soemthing we don't know?

Well I see you don't do so many posts. Comments and re-posts are a way to get noticed.

Mate, I don't just make up stuff for the sake of a post and a good 85% of Hive is like that. "I saw a cushion today" or "Look at this pebble I found." Jesus. I'd far rather see a Unicorn farting a rainbow. 😉

When I have something I think is of value and not just Pulp Fiction then I'll post it.

Nothing wrong with that mate. Quality matters. I do see some of the 'challenges' as real fluff. We need real engaging content to bring in new people. I think we have some in the comics are and there is some good music too, but much of it is not exclusive to Hive. I have been talking to a musician today and he has issues with what he makes here, in particular that old posts will not earn, but people get upset if you post the same stuff again. We need ways to earn in the longer term. I think the 7 day thing is about keeping it viable to process the transactions.

My wife and I always kind of judge how we are doing by the other people in the park as well. We see if we can catch up to them or stay ahead of them. We busted into an early Fall warm streak for a couple days. I actually had to turn the A/C back on yesterday. We are looking at a sharp drop next week. Should be back to average.

I do not really compete, but I may use other runners to push myself harder. When you run alone you can get complacent.

We don't have A/C, but it tends not to stay really hot for too long. Maybe that will change in coming years. Today is nice and cool. I was wearing shorts around the house recently, but back to jeans and a sweater now.
