Lunch Run - A quick one

I just finished a 9.067km running that lasted about 0hh:46mm:54ss !

First of all I should say that @exhaust is back after @mstafford resolved some post-hardfork issues. I have seen a few people doing posts with it and so will I.

I woke up to the sound of heavy rain, so delayed my run until just before lunch. I went out with the intention of going to Stotfold and back with some fartlek sprint, but I found I was doing a fairly good pace after a while and decided to see if I could keep it up.

Maintaining a pace of under 5min/km has been my aim for a while. I managed it for about 3km today, but then I started to struggle. I was helped by a bit of a tail-wind on the way out, but that came back to bite me on the return. I did a loop across the fields and through the back of Stotfold. I was trying to avoid the worst of the puddles and so was weaving about at times.

I managed a couple of segment personal records, but then I have not generally tried to sustain that pace on those tracks. That gives me something to try and beat in future. The average pace was definitely better than I usually manage over that sort of distance and I have to be happy with that.

It is always good to get a run that is better than expected and it shows I could have more in me than I think.

I think I saw one other runner today, but then I would not expect many to be out at that time of day. The UK is going into lockdown on Thursday, but we are still allowed out for exercise and so I will be running when I can.

Run free and stay well. Vote if you have that option.

Nice effort! I remember a while back when you considered yourself to be slow! You've gotten quite quick!

Cheers. I did surprise myself. All that running this year may be paying off.

Great job on your run. That would not be funny running back against the wind. We had some bad winds yesterday and I was trying not to get blown over when I was pumping gas.

*When someone tells you that what you want to do is impossible, change the word in your head to hard. What you want to do is hard. Hard is doable – it just requires dedicated work and effort and you can make it happen.
