Morning Run - In the long run

I just finished a 16.914km running that lasted about 1hh:37mm:30ss !

It was another cold one today at well below freezing when I started. This meant there was ice to look out for again. I set off intending to do more or less the same run as last Sunday.

The upper part of West Drive got cleared this week, so it actually looks like a road rather than a narrow track, but cars are not allowed up there. The fallen leaves and other debris had built up over the years. I decided to try the outer path around Fairfield. The mud was 'crunchy' in places, so it was not too bad, but there were some big puddles with mud around them. Along the back path I encountered a very friendly you, but big dog. It looked something like what @stav has. It would not leave me alone and I stood there for a while with the owner trying to call it off. It was not looking to bite me, but it wanted to jump up. Eventually his daughters and another dog turned up to distract it and I could carry on.

Along the road beyond that there was sheet ice on the pavement again that caused me to run on the road. This time I went all the way to the roundabouts before taking the road past Standalone Farm. I followed that all the way to Norton with the diversion around the back at the other end. There was more ice there. There were lots of people out, including numerous runners.

I took the Greenway through Radwell Meadows again and then it was into Stotfold. I did the back road past the school as before. Coming back towards Arlesey my legs were starting to flag, but I managed to keep running. The underpass was pretty much dry after being pumped out. I then saw my son running the other way, but he is doing shorter runs.

I came back past the church and up the last hill before the downhill stretch to home. It was slightly further than last week. I will try to keep doing at least this distance to see if my body can get used to it.

Strava shows my heart rate up in the anaerobic range for a fair bit of the run. That is based on a maximum of 180 that seems about right for me.

After my shower I got some coffee and did the RSPB garden bird watch. I spotted four species around our feeder. There are others around, but they only count if they land in the garden. Their website seems to be overloaded, so I have not submitted my results yet.

Run free and stay well.

Cheers. Others go much further. I think most people can do this if they work on it. I could not have done this a few years ago.

Yeah, sounds like a labradoodle. Wants to be friends with everybody even if they're not keen.

She just wasn't responding to the owner's commands, but that's to be expected with a young dog. Maybe need to keep it on the lead more as others would not take it as well as I did.

*When someone tells you that what you want to do is impossible, change the word in your head to hard. What you want to do is hard. Hard is doable – it just requires dedicated work and effort and you can make it happen.

Enjoy a !BEER in the meantime...
