Beginnings are difficult

I just finished a 5.292km running that lasted about 0hh:27mm:0ss !

I have stopped running for almost a month and I have enjoyed 3 weeks of full-time holidays.
Today I am back to the "office", working at home, from 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM...too much work to start the week with.
However, I have also initiated the 2020-2021 new Running season as well!!!!

Before running, I was totally convinced that the "Restart" would be tough, specially this time because I have never stopped running for so long before...
Actually, what I used to do on holidays is to decrease drastically the running volume but never stopped completely.
This time has been different. After a very long covid19 Lockdown period of time, on which we couldn't even go altogether for a walk, I wanted to enjoy the full time of holidays with the family, without having any constraint of any nature, neither from running obligations...
As a result, I get what I wanted but also I have lost quite a lot of my running shape and also gained some weight...not so much but still.

As a result, the first run of the season has been terrific.
I can't even remember when was the last time I get so bad feelings while running...maybe after an injure,
possibly.

I did run softly for 5km in about 25 minutes but the sensations have been very bad... aerobically bad...this is totally normal since the aerobic condition is the first one to lose when you stop from running, but I am not worried at all on this aspect... I know it is a matter of time and consistency to get back again to a good aerobic condition...
But I have also felt some pain on my right groin and hip area...
It reminded me I suffered an injure on that area a few years ago...and took me quite a long time to get recovered and healed from it. I thing @revisesociology knows about this injure...it is very painful and I think I have to take the restart of the running season in a quieter way, maybe doing some extra exercise to reinforce my groins and hips zones...

For the moment, I am planning 3 running sessions of 25' to 30' long during this week and 3 days of Body conditioning, including Stretching, mobility and core exercises.
Hope to recover the good shape soon.

Keep on running!

You have uploaded 170 running activities, and 22 of them have been of similar distances (within 10 percent)!
Here are your 5-fastest running activities of a similar distance:

Over these 22 similar activities, you have travelled approximately 118.27 kms at an average pace of roughly 6:15 min/km!
Your latest run was at a pace of approximately 5.101min/km!
Looks like you went a bit faster than usual this time! Nice work!
Have a !BEER for your troubles!

@toofasteddie I know the struggle hermano, I stopped for some time as well and now 5km sessions seem longer than before hehe. One thing that helped me a lot was not looking at the pace so much and rather focus on getting the run done.

Take it easy getting back into it. Our lockdown still allowed us to get out for exercise and helped keep my morale up. Unfortunately I have just hurt my back and so I may not run for a week or two. I hope I do not lose too much fitness.

Thanks mate!
Try to reinforce your back and abdomen muscles with core exercises in the meantime. Get well soon.

I'm doing some planks and I find swimming is okay. If I sit too long I get all stiff. I have had this before and it is annoying. All I did was twist a bit when shifting a big sack of flour.

in my mind a 5 min km is really fast. If this is a poor time in your opinion you are in much better shape than I am!

Thanks man, it used to be my warming-up pace till the start of the Covid19 lockdown. I used to run 200 Km a month in average but it seems I have stopped too much for holidays :-)
