El día jueves 09 de Septiembre a las 7:00 pm, Venezuela se enfrentó a Paraguay en el estadio Defensores del Chaco en Asunción Paraguay. Venezuela salio con una alineación de 4-2-3-1
con Fariñez en el arco, A. Gonzáles, Ferraresi, Chancellor, O. Gonzáles en defensa, Moreno, Martines en la primera linea de volantes, Savarino como extremo por derecha, otero por el medio y Yeferson Soteldo como extremo por derecha y Hurtado como único hombre en punta.

Desde el pitido inicial Venezuela no se encontró en la cancha, muchos errores en la entrega de la pelota, no eramos capaces de dar tres pases seguidos. Esto también fue provocado por la fuerte presión que ejerció Paraguay en toda la cancha. En el minuto 6 la selección Paraguaya consigue inaugurar el marcador por intermedio de Hector Martinez que le pego a la pelota muy fuerte con la pierna izquierda desde fuera del area y nada pudo hacer Fariñez para evitar la primera caída del arco venezolano.

Venezuela realizó varios cambios esperando poder descontar, pero no fue sino hasta el minuto 44 del segundo tiempo que pudo marcar su primer y único gol con un soberbio golpe de cabeza de Chancellor aprovechando un cobro de falta realizado por Yeferson Soteldo.

Ahora bien, haciendo un pequeño análisis del juego, en mi opinión, Venezuela debió haber salido con un 4-4-2, con 2 puntas como Josef martinez y Hurtado y con Sabarino y Soteldo en la creación. Creo que de esa manera había mas posibilidad de ataque, aunado a que con dos puntas preocupamos mas a la defensa rival y así evitamos que se sumen al ataque. En mi humilde opinión Romulo Otero es mejor como revulsivo para el segundo tiempo ya que es un jugador con mucho desequilibrio que provoca muchas faltas cerca del área y es un buen cobrador de tiros libres.

Now, doing a little analysis of the game, in my opinion, Venezuela should have come out with a 4-4-2, with 2 points like Josef Martinez and Hurtado and with Sabarino and Soteldo in the creation. Esperemos que para la próxima triple fecha eliminatoria que sera en menos de un mes, haya un franca mejoría porque ya no tenemos margen de error.

En lineas generales fue un partido en donde se mostró mucho desorden, muchas malas entregas de balón lo cual es preocupante. Vi una selección que no termina de crear una identidad de juego.

El próximo cuerpo técnico que agarre la selección debe tener tiempo de trabajo y empezar a pensar en el mundial de 2026, e ir trabajando una idea de juego ofensiva con mucho orden en todas las lineas. Esperemos que los nuevos directivos de la Federación Venezolana de Futbol lo entiendan y trabajen en torno ello, no solo en la selección de mayores, también en las categorías menores que es donde esta la cantera.
