Heading to the World Classic: Analysis (II)

In this second installment analyzing the teams that Cuba will face in this sixth edition of the World Classic, it is the turn of Colombia, one of the teams that has been the most difficult for our team in recent years.

The coffee lineup features a wide variety of players from the MLB circuit as well as several who play in Caribbean leagues. The team led by José Mosquera has very experienced players with power and versatility in their wrists and legs, respectively, which makes them an unpredictable team with their strategy. In yesterday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates by Spring Training, the Colombian team was defeated seven scores to one, displaying a lineup very similar to the one they can use against Cuba

Starting Pitcher

The starting pitcher of the Colombian army is none other than the captain of the squad, Julio Teherán. The 35-year-old veteran, born in Cartagena, will be in charge of throwing the streamers against the Cuban team, knowing the importance that the clash in question represents for the coffee growers. In his career in MLB he has 13 seasons of service with five teams, his longest stay being in the Atlanta Braves (2011-2019), and then changing organizations each year Angels (2020), Detroit (2021-2022), Brewers (2023) and Mets (2024), in which he has a record of 81 wins and 82 losses with more than 1,000 strikeouts in the Big League.
