Es sin lugar a dudas la noticia de la semana. O mejor dicho lo fue en el fin de semana pasado.

Porque Marc Márquez anunció en su cuenta de Twitter (en forma un poco inesperada porque ni siquiera su manager deportivo y ni siquiera la propia Honda lo habían confirmado) su vuelta a la MotoGP en el Gran Premio de Portugal (Portimao) este fin de semana.

Después de tantas incertidumbres y con el alta médica en sus manos el nativo de Cervera no quiso esperar más y decidió comenzar a competir desde este fin de semana.

Ya entre viernes y sábado conoceremos las reales condiciones del fenómeno catalán, ganador de 8 mundiales (a uno de Valentino Rossi) que saltó todas las carreras del 2020 (se accidentó en la primera de ellas).

Y sin el cual el entero campeonato tuvo otro matiz, otras esfumaturas, donde la paridad de los pilotos fue el común denominador. A punto tal que Mir, otro español, el campeón mundial 2020, logró sacar menos de la mitad de los puntos que había obtenido Marc en el 2019.

Pero hagamos un paso para recordar como un (aprenetemente) simple accidente tuvo consecuencias tan negativas en la recuperación de Márquez. Las noticias a veces son consumidas muy rápidamente y nos olvidamos de lo ocurrido hace pocos meses atrás. Trataré de hacer una especie de síntesis.

After so many uncertainties and with the medical clearance in his hands, the native of Cervera did not want to wait any longer and decided to start racing from this weekend.

Already between Friday and Saturday we will know the real conditions of the Catalan phenomenon, winner of 8 world championships (one behind Valentino Rossi) who skipped all the races of 2020 (he crashed in the first of them).

And without him the whole championship had another nuance, other shades, where the parity of the riders was the common denominator. To such an extent that Mir, another Spaniard, the 2020 world champion, managed to take less than half the points that Marc had obtained in 2019.

But let's take a step back to remember how an (apprehensively) simple accident had such negative consequences on Marquez's recovery. The news is sometimes consumed very quickly and we forget what happened just a few months ago. I will try to make a sort of synthesis.

Este viernes, el día que comience con las pruebas clasificatorias en Portimao se cumplirán exactamente 217 días del accidente en la pista de Jerez.

En la cuarta vuelta, quizás un preanuncio de lo que ocurriría más tarde, se había despistado y había quedado último.

Comienza una remontada casi imposible recuperando 13 puestos hasta llegar al tercer lugar, con el podio asegurado, y luego ese accidente absurdo (por la forma) en que vuela por el aire, cae y la rueda delantera de su Honda RC213V que le sube por el brazo.

Ironía de la suerte esa carrera marcó el primer triunfo en la MotoGP para Fabio Quartaro, el francés que durante el 2019 le había disputado las últimas carreras como ningún otro piloto.

Márquez trata de levantarse pero todos ven que ha ocurrido algo grave. Sus gestos de dolor lo denotan. Inicia el calvario.

El diagnóstico oficial fue fractura de húmero en el brazo derecho.

Lo que se preveía al inicio somo una simple operación de rutina, considerados los numerosos accidentes con fracturas óseas en la MotoGP, no lo fue tal.

Márquez se operó en forma inmediata y tal vez el mayor error fue tratar de regresar en forma inmediata, una semana más tarde. Algo similar a lo que hizo Valentino Rossi varias veces en su carrera.

Realizó una prueba cronometrizada en Andalucía con un tiempo impresionante pero notó algunos dolores y decidió no correr. Había exigido demasiado a su físico. En su casa le confesó a su hermano: "he sentido que algo se rompìa dentro del brazo. Creo que la placa que me han colocado se ha roto".

Volvió a ser operado en agosto (y a esta altura ya decide abandonar la temporada 2020 para dedicarse con calma solamente a su recuperación) y más tarde en noviembre por una infección axilar.

El vía crucis parecía no tener fin. En diciembre del 2020 se pronosticaba que si todo andaba bien podría volver a las pistas solo a mitad de temporada, en junio del 2021.

Fue una rehabilitación muy dura y sacrificada.

What was initially expected to be a simple routine operation, considering the numerous accidents with bone fractures in MotoGP, was not.

Márquez underwent surgery immediately and perhaps the biggest mistake was trying to return immediately, a week later. Something similar to what Valentino Rossi did several times in his career.

He did a time trial in Andalusia with an impressive time but noticed some pain and decided not to race. He had put too much strain on his physique. At home he confessed to his brother: "I felt that something was breaking inside my arm. I think the plate they put in my arm broke".

He was operated again in August (and at this point he decided to abandon the 2020 season to dedicate himself calmly only to his recovery) and later in November for an axillary infection.

The via crucis seemed to have no end. In December 2020, it was predicted that if everything went well, he would be able to return to the tracks only in the middle of the season, in June 2021.

It was a very hard and sacrificial rehabilitation.

Evidentemente es una incógnita que nos puede deparar la vuelta de Marc Márquez. Estar alejado de las pistas por más de 6 meses no es poco. Los entrenamientos con la moto comenzó a realizarlos reciés a inicios del 2021.

Las motos en la actualidad son bólidos que en recta no tienen nada que envidiar a los monoplazas de la Fórmula 1 superando a veces los 300 km/h. Solo pensarlo da miedo. Y cuando constatamos que el piloto viaja sobre dos ruedas en vez de cuatro nos damos cuenta de la perfectas condiciones físicas y anímicas que debe tener un piloto de MotoGP.

Tal vez la duda resida en la parte técnica, el llamado "timming" que tiene cada piloto como consecuencia no solo del constante entrenamiento sino también de la constante y regular participación en las carreras. Que es otra cosa.

Es propio lo que falta al fenómeno catalán.

Su tremenda calidad y osadía podrá suplirla? Lo comenzaremos a saber este fin de semana.
