Group F also called the "group of death" at Euro 2020.

When the draw for Euro 2020 took place - later postponed and postponed until 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic - one could hardly imagine a group as difficult as group F.

Called "the group of death" it had "a priori" the unique peculiarity that, of the four participants, practically three could constitute themselves as real candidates to win it.

A group made up of Germany, France, Hungary and Portugal (in alphabetical order) is not something you see every day.

While in the other groups the differences between strong teams and weak teams (assuming that there are some that can be defined as such) were noticeable in the group the "weakest" was Hungary: let's imagine the rest.

This week the group stage of the Eurocup was closed, the last group to be defined was the "F" and the parity was such that anyone could qualify or be out.

Even mighty Germany was being eliminated up to six minutes from the end of the game with Hungary.

Irony of luck the two meetings, in which everyone played everything, were among the best of this European Championship.

None saved anything. Neither speculated with the result because apart from theirs it also depended on the other.

But let's go to the detailed analysis of each encounter.

With the tie both managed to qualify for the second round of the Eurocup

Played in the Ferenc Puskás Stadium (Hungary) now called Puskás Aréna after the old stadium was demolished and built anew in 2016

France was presented as the favorite, leader in their group, however that was not a reason for speculation.

Cristiano Ronaldo opened the scoring by averaging the first half and in injury time Karin Benzema established parity.

The same players with their double returned to convert in the complete one, but in the opposite way.

Just started the second half was the French to score and put the French team ahead for the first time in the match.

However, the French joy did not last long. A few minutes later when the first quarter of an hour was fulfilled, Cristiano Ronaldo established the equality that would be final, also signaling a personal record: he is the player who scored the most goals for his team worldwide. Or rather, he equaled the record of Iranian Ali Daei.

The tremendous scoring duo ex-Real Madrid only now on different sides. Pure show. Goals and good game.

But that is not all. He managed to consolidate with his 14 goals (so far) as the top scorer in the entire history of the European Championship. With 36 years and some more to play still according to the football level he is showing.

Alemania 2 - Hungria 2

With the in-extremis draw, Germany managed to reach the round of 16 at Euro 2020

Hungría estaba obligada a ganar. Y Alemania a no perder.

The players of Germany celebrate the tie that meant their pass to the second round.

Germany and Hungary played the passage to eighth minute by minute. To preclude the result of the match between France and Portugal. They depended on themselves. Hungary was bound to win. And Germany not to lose.

And in that vein the game was developing.

During eighty-five minutes of the nineties of the game, Hungary was leaving the powerful Germany out of the Eurocup. Humble Hungary is giving the biggest surprise of the Euro.

But Germany is always Germany. A hard, concentrated team, strategically organized to take advantage of the mistakes or mistakes of the rival at any time. And with excellent headers. Defenders, forwards, midfielders, any of them is an excellent header and can reach the goal in this way.

Hungary started better, making us at times remember those Hungary of Puskas in the past. With good ball handling, depth in the countries, sides that come and go and various dangerous situations.

And in one of them Szalai put the advantage for Hungary. Total surprise. Germany eliminated from the Eurocup. With the results between France and Portugal, she did not even enter as the best classified.

However, the Germans do not forgive mistakes. And so Havertz scored the equalizer taking advantage of a glaring error by Gulacsi.

But the Teutonic team could not celebrate too much. Hungary serve from midfield and take advantage again taking advantage of something unusual in the combined
Joachim Löw: misalignment of the defense and bad luck of Neuer. Something unprecedented, very well taken advantage of by Schäfer that puts the magyar team in advantage again and classifies them to the eighth.

However, Hungary was going to fall victim to their lack of concentration as had happened in previous matches. Goretzka, who had entered a few minutes ago - changes in extreme situations almost always give good results to Germany - puts the final draw and deposits Germany in the round of 16.

A classification seldom as long-suffering as this one.
