Finalmente la primera jornada de esta ronda de equipos ha llegado a su desenlace el día de ayer con dos de las selecciones que más las personas estaban esperando ver debutar, Portugal y la Brasil de Neymar. La primera se enfrentaba a Ghana, un equipo que históricamente siempre ha sido de contacto, incomodo e imponente mientras que la segunda le tocaba medirse con Serbia, una selección que en los papeles tiene muy buenos jugadores pero que en la cancha no se vio absolutamente nada, me atrevería a decir que fue de los equipos más flojos de esta primera etapa del mundial, porque si, estaban ante Brasil pero es que juego fue muy nulo, casi comparado con el de Costa Rica.

Ese partido comenzó con una Portugal tratando y tratando pero sin lograr nada, el balón era de ellos, las pocas llegadas también eran de ellos pero el peligro y las ocasiones no se veían por ningún lado, los lusos no representaban una amenaza real para los africanos. Y esto en parte se dio porque esta selección de Ghana fue sumamente ordenada defensivamente hablando, protegían su arco todos en bloque con una línea de cinco impenetrable que incomodaba a Portugal porque eso fue lo otro, Cristiano y compañía parecían incomodos en la cancha, en especial el 7 que no en todo el primer tiempo no vio una clara. Esto confirma que el planteamiento de Ghana estaba funcionando y de hecho lo hizo durante los primeros 45 minutos.

Pueden dar más, tienen jugadores para eso pero es el funcionamiento y la forma de plantear los juegos lo que estanca a esta selección.

Hay poco equipos que de verdad su plantilla me impresiona y uno de ellos es esta Brasil, ayer sacaron a sus titulares faltando poco para el final del partido y el equipo que les quedó con los suplentes fue una barbaridad. Pero bueno, como era de esperarse el dominio total y absoluto fue de los dirigidos por Tite, de principio a fin tuvieron el balón y las oportunidades porque a diferencia de Portugal estos si llegaban con cierto peligro, de hecho lo hicieron más de veinte veces, el tema es que no estaban siendo muy efectivos que digamos.

Lógicamente esto es lo peor que puedes hacer porque le están dejando el campo a Brasil para que haga lo que le de la gana, cosa que al final es lo que hicieron a pesar de lo corto que haya quedado el marcador, que si hubiesen sido un poco más efectivo fácilmente esto pudo haber quedado 5-0 sin problemas.

El crack del PSG sufrió un esguince producto de una entrada que parece lo va a dejar alejado de las canchas en los próximos dos partidos, así que con suerte lo veremos de vuelta en los octavos de final, porque si, Brasil va a clasificar sin problemas a esas instancias. Con todo y lesión Brasil dio un recital de futbol ante Serbia, de hecho la ultima media hora de partido fue un bombardeo constante de remates y ocasiones hasta que Richarlison hizo lo propio y se mandó dos goles siendo uno de ellos el mejor de los que hemos visto hasta ahora en Catar. Brasil estuvo muy cómoda ante el que se suponía era el rival más fuerte del grupo, le queda Camerún y Suiza, selecciones que no serán problema alguno para ellos.

Es raro ver a los celestes en un mundial sin el maestro Tabárez pero los ciclos se cumplen y se vencen, la cosa es que ese equipo nuevo y con ideas clara ayer no se vio, siento que Uruguay desde las eliminatorias han venido en un sube y baja, una montaña rusa de juego que no termina de consolidarse, no se si recuerdan pero Uruguay estuvo a punto de queda fuera de este mundial porque dichas eliminatorias las comenzaron fatal, jugando muy por debajo del nivel.

Lo próximo de Uruguay es Portugal y si quieren dejar una huella van a tener que hacer mucho más de lo mostrado ante los asiáticos. Sigo pensando que ambas selecciones avanzarán a los octavos pero los sudamericanos con un poco más de sufrimiento, como están acostumbrados a hacerlo. Con estos partidos se fue la primera ronda, una llena de sorpresas, buenos y malos partidos, un par de buenos goles pero sobre todo con un ambiente raro, solo he visto el verdadero ambiente mundialista en dos o tres partidos pero no más. Sin dudas un mundial que dará mucho que hablar y apenas llevamos la primera ronda de la fase de grupos.
Next up for Uruguay is Portugal and if they want to make a mark they will have to do much more than what they showed against the Asians. I still think that both teams will advance to the round of 16 but the South Americans will have to suffer a little more, as they are used to. With these matches the first round ended, one full of surprises, good and bad matches, a couple of good goals but above all with a strange atmosphere, I have only seen the real World Cup atmosphere in two or three matches but no more. En líneas generales (aunque hubo 4 partidos con cero goles) en la primera jornada de la fase de grupos ha habido emociones al por mayor, grandes sorpresas, algunas gratas, algunas otras bastante inesperadas y duras para equipos de primera línea.
La jornada de ayer nos dejó una Uruguay que nos quedó a deber por la calidad que hay en sus filas; una Portugal inconsistente en defensa y la alegría de ver a Cristiano seguir haciendo historia (aunque ese penalti tiene sus cositas); y a una Brasil brillante que seguramente le pondrá mucho color a esta fiesta con la calidad de su futbol en lo individual y lo colectivo.

Sin dudas. Fue un inicio bastante aceptable dadas las dos grandes sorpresas que hubo. Equipos que no defraudaron y otros que si lo hicieron. Lo que si siento que ha faltado han sido goles de alta factura, puedo contar un par nada más porque de resto todos muy normales.
