Cuando José Mourinho ganó aquella Champions con el Porto en el 2004 todo el mundo giró las miradas hacia el portugués y es que estábamos hablando de un entrenador para muchos desconocido que lo único importante que había logrado había sido ser segundo entrenador del Barcelona en la era de Louis Van Gaal. Con Xabi Alonso lo de desconocido no aplica pero si que es verdad que como entrenador no se había presentado en la élite, entrenar en las inferiores de la Real Sociedad y del Real Madrid no cuenta. Todo eso cambió cuando esta temporada decide agarrar a un equipo que tenía 119 años que no ganaba la bundesliga y que solo tenía en su haber 2 títulos nada más. Entonces, ¿las miradas y un posible salto llegarán a la vida de Xabi?...

Además de eso y no menos importante el Leverkusen pone fin a una racha abrumadora del Bayern de Munich de once temporadas consecutivas siendo campeón y lo hace, por si fuera poco, de manera invicta. Lo que "La Xabineta" nos ha regalado esta temporada es algo de locos, ha sido una funcionalidad perfecta en todas las líneas, un juego enfocado en la tenencia y manejo de balón en el medio campo como pocos equipos en Europa la tienen pero sobretodo es un tema mental, muchas veces este equipo ha estado abajo en el marcador y de manera hasta inexplicable han remontado partidos que parecían imposibles de ganar y todo esto es gracias al ADN ganador que inyectó el español a este club.

Ser el mejor equipo de Europa, con la mejor racha invicta de toda la historia, con la oportunidad de seguir haciendo esos números más grandes porque la temporada aún no termina, teniendo el chance de ganar el triplete porque sigue en la Europa League y Copa Alemana y todo eso lograrlo con una plantilla bastante promedio yo creo que el mérito que tiene es gigantesco. Todo esto me hace preguntarme la interrogante inicial, ¿son suficientes motivos todos los nombrados para considerar el Xabi Alonso un entrenador top? - si estuviéramos hablando de un club con más nombre e historia probablemente esto pasara desapercibido, no habría tanto ruido, pero al ser un equipo que es cero conocido por ganar y figurar yo creo que el reconocimiento tiene que estar. Hay quienes comparan esto con lo que hizo el Leicester de Rainieri en la temporada 2015-2016 pero para mi no es nada parecido.

There are those who compare this to what Rainieri's Leicester did in the 2015-2016 season but to me it's nothing like that.

Creo que el tiempo dirá si merece estar en lo más alto, si ganase todo por lo que aún está compitiendo no habría ninguna duda al respecto. Imaginen que este Bayer 04 Leverkusen gana el triplete, hagamos este ejercicio, ¿no podría ser considerada de las hazañas más top del fútbol contemporáneo? - volvemos a Mourinho quien también logró esto con el Porto ganando Liga, Copa y la UEFA. Las comparaciones son odiosas pero si quiero hablar de entrenadores tengo que buscar a alguien que haya tenido un contexto parecido. Algo positivo es que ya sabemos que él se va a quedar en este Leverkusen la temporada siguiente para poder disputar Champions League y así seguir acrecentando esta epopeya extraordinaria.

Considero que lo peor que le puede pasar a Alonso es que llegue el endiosamiento por parte de la prensa como de los mismos fanáticos, por suerte él la tuvo clara y decidió quedarse en el club. Un error hubiese sido haberse ido a otro equipo más "importante" solo por lo hecho en esta temporada. Para mi no está en el olimpo, creo que no está ni cerca de estarlo, el camino es muy largo para tan siquiera ser considerado estar en ese monte de los grandes. ¿Pero eso existe? - la verdad es que no pero se sabe que hay entrenadores que pudieran ser considerados los más influyentes e importantes y estar en ese grupo selecto de los mejores. Al final todo esto es subjetivo porque va depender del ojo y la mente con que se mida pero aún así yo tengo tres que son los que están en lo más alto: Carlo Ancelotti, Pep Guardiola y José Mourinho; en ese mismo orden.

Xabi Alonso va rumbo a ser de lo más top del mundo, tiene las ideas claras, es un tipo metódico, un tipo que como jugador fue un privilegiado porque la visión de juego que tenía era envidiable y eso ayuda a entender un poco más el juego desde fuera de la cancha. La exigencia será mayor, ya las personas estarán esperando más de él, cuando pierda un partido algunos dirán que es el fin del mundo porque acostumbró a todos a ser un ganador siempre. En lo personal me considero un gran fanático de lo que hizo esta temporada así no sea un gran seguidor de la Bundesliga, siento que lo mejor está por venir. Ojalá logre ganar los títulos que le restan por disputar, al ser el equipo más dominante de Europa sería una lástima que solo se fueran con un trofeo al final de la temporada.
Xabi Alonso is on his way to being one of the top players in the world, he has clear ideas, he is a methodical guy, a guy who as a player was privileged because his vision of the game was enviable and that helps to understand the game a little more from off the field. The demand will be greater, people will be expecting more from him, when he loses a game some will say it is the end of the world because he accustomed everyone to be a winner all the time. Personally I consider myself a big fan of what he did this season even if I am not a big fan of the Bundesliga, I feel that the best is yet to come. I hope he manages to win the remaining titles, being the most dominant team in Europe it would be a shame if they only leave with one trophy at the end of the season.

Este ha sido una demostración que los entrenadores noveles sí tienen la posibilidad de ganar títulos. Xabi ya lo hizo en la Real Sociedad B y lo ha demostrado muy bien en el Leverkusen Bayern. Espero que se consolide en este equipo y no de un salto prematuro a un gran equipo. Hemos sido testigo de historia en el futbol alemán y en mi caso lo he disfrutado al maximo. Quedan más retos para Xabi, primero en la UEFA Europe League con el Hest Ham United, rival muy bien plantado que de alguna forma se le ha descifrado pero de igual forma quedan 90 min. El otro reto que le queda es la Copa Alemana. Esperemos muchos más de Xabi, estoy seguro que no puede dar mucho más.
Creo que esa es la clave, la consolidación. Una vez madure un poco más en europa creo que estará listo para el salto a un club más grande. Confío en que se pueda ganar ese triplete, tiene todos los papeles y cualidades para hacerlo.
Es un buen entrenador, la temporada pasada demostró muy buenas ideas, y en esta las ha llevado a cabo plenamente.
Quizás algún día sea considerado de los mejores, por ahora esto es un logro pero no más de allí. De igual manera considero que tiene una larga carrera y puede seguir siendo exitoso.

Había que escribir sobre eso porque ya estoy leyendo a algunos desvivirse por Alonso. Es un buen técnico, si, pero como el camino que le falta es inmenso. Ojalá siga siendo exitoso y todo esto no se diluya.
