Saludos amigos de Fulldeportes!! hoy comentare con ustedes al respecto de un antiguo Boxeador cuya carrera sirvió como inspiración para la saga de películas más reconocida sobre el Boxeo a nivel Mundial.

Y es que este Boxeado de pesos pesados apodado el “sangrador de Bayonne” protagonizó en el año 1975 una de las más grandes sorpresas en la historia del boxeo, ante ni más ni menos que el más grande boxeador de todos los tiempos, Muhammad Ali!

Resulta que Wepner quien ya había peleado y perdido ante los más importantes pesos pesados de la época George Foreman, Sony Liston (todos por K.O) pero que no era un mal boxeador en líneas generales le correspondió por azar del destino enfrentar a Ali en 1975 por el campeonato mundial de los pesos pesados los títulos de consejo mundial de Boxeo y asociación mundial de boxeo (WCB y WBA respectivamente por sus significado en ingles) un encuentro previamente pactado contra foreman.

Porque aquella pelea entre Wepner y Alí sirvió de inspiración para la película ganadora del Oscar Rocky que fue realizada al año siguiente y que catapulto a la fama a Stallone como gran actor y guionista, que fue el inicio a una saga que más de 40 años después todavía sigue vigente.

Este boxeador en el año 2006 entablo una demanda contra Stallone en Busqueda de una compensación por la saga de Peliculas de Rocky que llevó a un arreglo fuera de la corte entre ambas partes. y paradojicamente en el año 2016 se lanzó una pelicula sobre el que no tuvo exito

La verdad que es una historia entretenida la de Wepner y saber que existe una hombre real que sea la inspiración de un personaje tan apreciado como Rocky es interesante cuanto menos.
