[ESP/ENG] La vinotinto del baloncesto... Un equipo con corazón

Saludos estimados amigos de fulldeportes!! Hoy quisiera hablar con respecto a la selección venezolana de Baloncesto, que acaba de terminar el día de ayer su participación en el torneo de repechaje olímpico, con miras a Tokio 2020+1 quedando eliminada tras perder un duelo contra Eslovenia con un marcador de 98-70 en la segunda fase de dicho torneo.

Today I would like to talk about the Venezuelan Basketball team, which just finished yesterday its participation in the Olympic playoff tournament, with a view to Tokyo 2020+1, being eliminated after losing a duel against Slovenia with a score of 98-70 in the second phase of the tournament.

Es importante recordar que a pesar de que el béisbol es el deporte que más mueve aficionados, y la importante cobertura que la selección de futbol ha tenido en las ultimas décadas, el baloncesto como selección es un deporte que desde hace alrededor de 30 años esta bindando satisfacciones a la fanaticada de dicho deporte en nuestro país, muchos aun recuerdan a los Héroes de Portland que llevó a nuestro país a participar en los juegos olímpicos de Barcelona de 1992, incluso disputando la final del torneo de la Americas contra nada más y nada menos que el Dream Team original, con Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, y Magic Johnson entre otros jugadores del salón de la fama *el propio equipo está en el salón de la fama como conjunto.

Una de las cosas que a mí en lo particular me llamó la atención sobre el desarrollo de la selección, era que pensaba que la llegada de Greivis Vázquez a la NBA lo iba a convertir en la nueva referencia de nuestro equipo, así como la promesa de Gregory Echenique en la zona pintada.

Que le mejoraría al equipo? la verdad que la presencia interior hace falta, a pesar que han ganado sin ella, es bueno que se pudiera hacer algo al respecto, o por lo menos si van a jugar small-ball hacen falta jugadores con altos porcentajes desde la línea de tres puntos, sin embargo lo que veo es que a menos que alguno de los jugadores emergentes, como en el caso de Chorurio o Sojo, den un salto de calidad, hacia ligas europeas, el estilo de juego actual es la mejor carta de presentación de la Selección de Baloncesto de Venezuela, un equipo que juega en base al sacrificio para sobreponerse a la individualidades que presenta el contrario.
