Today I will share with you the history of Basketball, also known as the sport of giants because, although we can all practice it, its evolution has shown that the teams with the best results are those with players of high average physical stature. Even when we see a tall person in the street or in our family members, we relate it to this sport discipline. And it is because of the fact that a bigger person has more facility to get closer to the hoop to shoot the ball.

¡Sí!, fue en América y específicamente en la ciudad de Springfield, Massachussetts, Estados Unidos de Norteamérica y es atribuido al profesor de educación física de nacionalidad Canadiense James Naismith en el año de 1.890, celebrando en 1.891 el primer encuentro entre estudiantes universitarios, todo esto ante la necesidad de mantener la actividad deportiva durante el frío invierno del norte del país, en un recinto donde la lluvia, las nevadas, la noche o el día no pudiesen limitar su práctica. También se deseaba que fuese un deporte que se jugara en equipos de varios jugadores, donde la anotación consistía en hacer pasar un balón a través de un aro ubicado a una altura considerable para hacerlo mas difícil y diferente a todo lo antes visto.

Durante estos inicios se comenzó a establecer las normas del juego, ya que primeramente no se tenía un número definido de jugadores de cada equipo, ni el lapso de tiempo que tardaba el partido; Por lo que su evolución fue algo lenta, con el transcurrir de los años y de los diversos ensayos durante cada partido, se estipuló a posteriori que el juego ente dos equipos de cinco jugadores en cancha cada uno, con la opción de reservar un número de jugadores para cambio.
Fue entonces cuando con el paso del tiempo cada universidad y colegio comenzaron a establecer sus equipos de Basketball para representar sus estandartes durante un partido dividido en dos tiempos de 20 minutos cada uno y en una cancha con áreas delimitadas para lanzar desde una distancia determinada teniendo una mayor ponderación el acertar la cesta desde la zona más lejana al aro. A todo esto, sucedió el nacimiento de las competencias amateur durante algo mas de cuatro décadas, cuando posterior a la II Guerra mundial en 1.945 los norteamericanos sintieron la necesidad de volver a las competiciones deportivas y se deciden fundar equipos de baloncesto en las ciudades que contaban con las instalaciones óptimas, en este caso, en los estadios donde se jugaba al hockey sobre hielo. Registrándose el inicio de estas competiciones en el año de 1.946 con dos grandes ligas BAA y NBL, lasa cuales finalmente se unificaron en 1.949 con el nombre de National Basketball Association NBA.

These competitions began in 1946 with two big leagues, BAA and NBL, which finally were unified in 1949 under the name of National Basketball Association NBA.
