(ESP/ING) JUAN VICENTE TOVAR, EL TRIPLE CORONADO DEL CARIBE / JUAN VICENTE TOVAR, THE TRIPLE CORONADO OF THE CARIBBEAN

2 de diciembre de 1990, el Hipódromo de Santa Rita ubicado en el Estado Zulia, Venezuela, se vistió de gala para albergar el más importante evento hípico de la región, como es “La Gala Hípica del Caribe”. En la misma se llevaría a cabo el Clásico internacional del Caribe para yeguas o caballos de 3 años; y el Clásico confraternidad del Caribe en sus versiones separadas para caballos y yeguas de 4 y más años. En dicho evento participaron ejemplares de Panamá, Puerto Rico, México, Rep. Dominicana y Venezuela.

JUAN VICENTE TOVAR, THE TRIPLE CORONADO OF THE CARIBBEAN, or the feat never to be repeated.

On December 2, 1990, the Santa Rita Racetrack located in the State of Zulia, Venezuela, dressed up to host the most important equestrian event in the region, "The Caribbean Equestrian Gala". The Caribbean International Classic for 3 year old mares or horses; and the Classic Caribbean confraternity in its separate versions for horses and mares of 4 and more years of age were held. The event was attended by horses from Panama, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Dominican Republic and Venezuela.

De éste modo, nuestro Hipódromo de Santa Rita, sin saberlo, sería testigo de lo que luego sería la hazaña más grandiosa del hipismo venezolano, la cual tendría como protagonista principal, al mejor jinete venezolano de todos los tiempos, al “negrito de San José”, al Super Campeón Juan Vicente Tovar León, pues éste se convertiría en el primer y único jinete que hasta ahora ha ganado las 3 pruebas internacionales en una misma jornada.
Pero veamos un poco el contexto y los detalles de las 3 pruebas.

Primera competencia: Clásico Confraternidad del Caribe para yeguas de 4 y más años.

Primera prueba concerniente a La Gala Hípica de 1990, en la cual los especialistas de la disciplina colocaban a las ejemplares venezolanas “MON COQUETTE” con la monta de Juan Vicente Tovar y la preparación de Agustín Bezara, como la gran aspirante a la victoria, la otra yegua venezolana “STILWATER” con la monta de José Luis Rodríguez y la preparación de Oscar Carmona, partía como segunda favorita, quedando como tercera candidata, la panameña “ACHE PA TODOS”.

First test concerning the 1990 Equestrian Gala, in which the specialists of the discipline placed the Venezuelan mare "MON COQUETTE" ridden by Juan Vicente Tovar and prepared by Agustín Bezara, as the great aspirant to victory, the other Venezuelan mare "STILWATER" ridden by José Luis Rodríguez and prepared by Oscar Carmona, was the second favorite, and the third candidate was the Panamanian "ACHE PA TODOS*

Acá les comparto la nómina de participantes de dicha prueba, con los detalles individuales de cada ejemplar, jinete y entrenador.

Para poner más emoción a la histórica jornada, comienza un torrencial aguacero, parecía que la naturaleza se negaba a ser testigo de la inolvidable tarde del negrito de San José. No obstante, los preparativos siguieron adelante y las ejemplares se preparaban para la carrera. Minutos después, ingresan al aparato de partida y, desde el brinco, la gran favorita se ubicó en los puestos de vanguardia, pero al girar la última curva y entrar en la recta final, la lucha por el primer lugar se centraba entre MON COQUETTE y STILWATER, la primera dominaba pero la segunda se le vino encima y hasta llega a emparejar y dominar la prueba, pero Tovar, haciendo gala de su astucia y veteranía, se cambia el fuete a la mano izquierda con la cual castiga y hace reaccionar a su conducida y vuelve a tomar mínima ventaja con la cual sale vencedora MON COQUETTE por un margen muy estrecho…

To add more excitement to the historic day, a torrential downpour began, it seemed that nature refused to be a witness of the unforgettable afternoon of the negrito de San José. Nevertheless, the preparations went on and the horses were getting ready for the race. Minutes later, they entered the starting gate and, from the jump, the great favorite was in the vanguard positions, but when turning the last curve and entering the final straight, the fight for the first place was centered between MON COQUETTE and STILWATER, The first one dominated but the second one came over her and even came to match and dominate the test, but Tovar, showing his cunning and veteran, changes the baton to the left hand with which punishes and makes her driven react and takes again a minimal advantage with which MON COQUETTE wins by a very narrow margin.

Seguía la lluvia, crecía la emoción, los ejemplaros de la versión machos se alistaban para la carrera, el público en las tribunas no cesaba de gritar y aupar a los ejemplares venezolanos. Volvía el Campeonísimo jinete J.V. Tovar a la escena con la monta del gran favorito de la prueba, el ejemplar RANDY, dejando como segundo y tercer favorito a los panameños BY PASS y PAN DE LOS POBRES.

The rain continued, the excitement grew, the horses of the male version were getting ready for the race, the public in the stands did not cease to shout and support the Venezuelan horses. The champion rider J.V. Tovar returned to the scene with the great favorite of the race, the horse RANDY, leaving as second and third favorite the Panamanian BY PASS and PAN DE LOS POBRES.

Así, en contra de la lluvia, los ejemplares que se detallan en la imagen adjunta, se alistan para entrar en el aparato de partida.

Se da la partida y rápidamente los ejemplares CHAC, ACTION RUN y BY PASS salen a comandar la prueba, pero contrario a la estrategia empleada con la yegua MON COQUETTE que de inicio salió a pelear la punta, en ésta ocasión el campeón Tovar ubicó a su conducido RANDY en los últimos puestos. Así se desarrolló la mayor parte de la carrera, pero faltando unos 800 mts para el final, Tovar llamó a correr a su conducido y a la entrada de la recta final ya dominaba la competencia, pero el otro caballo venezolano, el ejemplar SUPER SERGIO, se le colocó al costado y ambos ejemplares protagonizaron un cabeza a cabeza hasta cruzar la raya final, resultando ganador el ejemplar RANDY apenas por una cabeza.

La lluvia ha cesado, es como si la naturaleza se diera por vencida y se alistara para aplaudir al campeonísimo J.V. Tovar. En las tribunas no cabía un alma, los corazones latían con más fuerza ante la posibilidad de ser testigos de la hazaña jamás llevado a cabo por un jinete en el caribe: La triple corona del Caribe, esto es, ganar las 3 carreras clásicas en una misma jornada. En ésta oportunidad era Don Fabián el ejemplar a conducir por Tovar y partía como el gran favorito de la prueba, secundado por el panameño ASPAVIENTO y BACKYARD, otro de los ejemplares venezolanos de la prueba.

Tovar se mantenía sereno, era un jinete de competencia, acostumbrado a faenas clásicas pero la tensión en el ambiente era inimaginable e iba en aumento con cada minuto que pasaba y ante la inminente entrada de los animales al recinto de partida y Yo, el humilde escritor de éste blog, al otro lado del televisor, a través de Monitor Hípico y a 15 horas del majestuoso escenario, aupaba y ligaba con todas mis fuerzas el triunfo de mi ídolo J.V. Tovar. Así pues, los ejemplares participantes de dicha prueba - acá la nómina de participantes – se alista para la prueba.

Se da la partida y rápidamente los ejemplares foráneos de México, Panamá y Puerto Rico ocupan los primeros puestos. En ésta oportunidad Tovar mantiene a su conducido en puestos intermedios pero bastante cerca de los punteros para no dejarlos escapar, ASPAVIENTO marchaba cuarto y BCKYARD última. La carrera se desarrollaría de ésta manera pero ya al acercarse a la última curva, ya DON FABIÁN, terciaba en la lucha por el primer puesto, ASPAVIENTO también se acercaba y BACKYARD corría mucho desde los últimos puestos.

Entran en la recta final y DON FABIAN se viene a la delantera pero muy presionado por ASPAVIENTO quien se le coloca al costado, así se vienen los dos en una lucha sin cuartel, pero finalmente el conducido por Tovar saca la casta y cruza la raya en primer lugar, con lo cual se gestaría la proeza más grande conseguida por un jinete en todo el caribe… Y tenía que ser venezolano¡¡
