Pero qué hace la afición venezolana que ama al béisbol desde enero hasta octubre? Qué hacen los empleados y personas que viven de un sueldo pagado por la liga Venezolana de Béisbol Profesional o por los equipos que hacen vida en la misma? Pués, los primeros una vez culminada la serie del caribe, se quedan sin béisbol hasta que comienzan los entrenamientos primaverales de las mayores y posteriormente el béisbol de grandes ligas, de esa manera, sigue ligada al béisbol, aunque no directamente pues sólo se puede apreciar a través de internet o la televisión... Y no es lo mismo. Los segundos, es decir el personal de trabajadores ligados a la LVBP (árbitros, peloteros veteranos y jóvenes novatos sin contrato en las mayores, obreros, comerciantes ligados a la disciplina, entre otros), en su mayoría se quedan sin empleo hasta que comience la nueva temporada.

La competencia

Ya conocidos los pormenores teóricos relacionados con la liga y el funcionamiento de la misma, me permito adentrarme en el desarrollo de la competencia como tal, para lo cual les informo que de los 30 juegos establecidos en el calendario de la liga, ya la mayoría de los equipos han jugado al menos 19 partidos, siendo Senadores de Caracas el líder de la competencia.

Ciertamente Alex Monsalve tiene experiencia con Caribes de Oriente pero no deja de ser un jugador reserva, lo cual quiere decir que el nivel de la liga es más que bueno.

Esta tabla realmente me llama la atención el hecho de que el título de bateo lo tiene prácticamente asegurado el careta Luis Alvarez del equipo Guerreros de Caracas con un average de 452 quien le saca hasta 60 puntos a su inmediato seguidor, mientras que el renglón de remolcadas lo comanda el guardabosque Eduard Pinto con 14 y 3 de ventaja a varios jugadores que llevan 11; y por último tenemos el renglón de jonrones que lo lidera Wilfredo Jiménez con 3.

Sobre la tabla de pitcheo, la verdad es que todos son prácticamente desconocidos – al menos para mí – pero se puede apreciar que talento hay de sobra, pues la efectividad de los 5 primeros de la lista no llega a 3 puntos y de 2 han ganado el premio MVP de la semana. Seguramente veremos a varios de estos peloteros vestir la camiseta de los equipos de la Liga Venezolana de Béisbol Profesional en el venidero mes de octubre.
