Con este tema inicio mis publicaciones en Hive Blog, en estos primeros pasos utilizare fotos e imágenes de otros autores, ya que actualmente no cuento con un teléfono inteligente de última generación de mi propiedad, menos una cámara moderna. Pues bien este artículo quise titularlo: “El paso de los grandes por nuestras memorias”.

En la televisión a veces nos acostumbramos tanto a un personaje, que nos enamoramos de cada actuación, de cada escena u entrevista que pueda tener, vivimos pendiente de lo hace o pueda lograr este individuo.
En nuestras vidas cotidiana mucha gente pasa por nuestro presente que al convertirse en pasado miramos hacia atrás con la satisfacción de haber disfrutado de cada momento con estos personajes.
Para muchos venezolanos el deporte favorito es el béisbol, aunque muchos deportistas Venezolanos han puesto el nombre de Venezuela en alto en otras disciplinas.
Desde aquella famosa victoria de los héroes del 41, cuando una selección de béisbol nacional ganó el título en la Serie Mundial de Beisbol Amateur en Cuba y ante los anfitriones, 3 carreras por 1, el deporte de los diamantes se hizo popular y muchas figuras han pasado a lo largo de la historia, en la memorias de muchos Venezolanos, por sus buenas actuaciones tanto en Venezuela como en los Estados Unidos.

For many Venezuelans the favorite sport is baseball, although many Venezuelan athletes have put the name of Venezuela on high in other disciplines.

Desde 1950 en adelante jugadores como Alfonso “Chico” Carrasquel, Luis Aparicio, Víctor Davalillo Cesar Tovar, David Concepción, Jesús Marcano Trillo, Antonio Armas, Bauidilio Díaz, Luis Leal entre otros fueron esos grandes héroes que pasaron por la memoria de quienes lograron deleitarse con sus jugadas y batazos hasta por lo menos principio de los años 80.
Yo muchas veces me preguntaba: ¿Qué hacen los seguidores de estos peloteros, cuando ya estos se retiran? ¿Cuál es su consuelo al no verlo más en el terreno ni, en los medios? Pues verlos en su mejor momento era algo excitante, La respuesta la conseguí años después cuando fui testigo, de parte de sus carrera y también su retiro como profesionales. En mi rol de aficionado al Béisbol.
Peloteros de la talla de Álvaro Espinoza, Oswaldo Guillen, Gustavo Polidor, Urbano Lugo, Andrés Galarraga, Antonio Castillo, Omar Vizquel, Wilson Álvarez, Carlos Quintana, Carlos el “café” Martínez, Oscar Azocar, Julio Machado, Richard Garcés, entre otros fueron peloteros que durante los años 80 hicieron su debut en las ligas mayores, dejando una huella imborrable por sus actuaciones, su carisma y su entrega total a este deporte, mientras transcurría la década eran cada vez más los peloteros que iban haciendo el grado de liga mayorista y en principio de los años 90 teníamos más atletas en los campos de béisbol en los Estados Unidos.

1999 Empieza para muchos la despedida de un ídolo al que muchos vimos triunfar, pero esta vez la batalla era contra el cáncer, la cual ganó luego de someterse a quimioterapias, para retirar un tumor en su espalda, muchas fueron las oraciones por nuestro ídolo, al que no vimos más por lo menos hasta la temporada del año 2000 cuando en medio de una ovación y contra su ex equipo de colorado jugaba de nuevo, fue una temporada donde los números iban dejando de ser positivos y ya mucha gente no le daba importancia a lo que pudiera hacer Galarraga, yo siempre quise que el gato nunca se retirara, y medida que los años le iban pesando sentía tristeza de no verlo jugar a diario, entre esos años 2001 y 2003 cuando ya casi nadie lo nombraba, y ya no se veían los grande titulares con su nombre en los periódicos, el debut y buena actuación de otros Venezolanos, medio llenaban ese vacío que poco a poco iba dejando a mi criterio, el mejor pelotero venezolano en las grandes ligas durante los años 90.

Que placer fue verlo a través de la tv jugar en su mejor nivel, que gusto era sentirse e identificarse con el gran Gato de Venezuela, que triste por lo menos para mí ver como se retiraba el más grande pelotero venezolano en ese entonces, su recuerdo queda en esta memoria como uno de los grandes que pasó por mi memoria, me toco llorar, e imaginar verlo jugar como por un milagro en aquella serie mundial del 2007, cuando colorado el equipo de sus mejores años, jugó el clásico de otoño contra los Medias Rojas de Boston, dije si Galarraga estuviese allí…

Fue difícil sustituirlo como ídolo, pero ver a José Miguel Cabrera ganar la serie mundial en el 2003 con los Marlins o tal vez ver a Francisco “El Kid” Rodríguez en el 2002 hacer lo propio con Anaheim Angels hizo que fuese dejando mi interés por un solo pelotero, pues todos ponían buenos número y llegaban caras nuevas y con mucho talento, en esos principios delos años 2000.

El que con sus números fue metiéndose en la memoria de todos los fanáticos del béisbol y que hoy y durante casi dos décadas es referencia en la MLB, y que borró aquella imagen del gato Galarraga querido por todos en los 90 y se apoderó de los corazones de quienes amamos este deporte en la actualidad es José Miguel Cabrera, hablar de sus números es hablar de récords pues las estadísticas y registros lo certifican, pero más allá de todo, ha logrado por lo menos en casi dos décadas ser ese líder entre los fanáticos, y lo más importante es que se ha mantenido entre los mejores, tiene cuatro coronas de bateo, una triple corona, una serie mundial, y goza de mucha preferencia además el uso actual de la tecnología como el internet hacen más fácil el seguir su carrera, ver en tiempo real cada turno y jugada, a mi criterio Miguel que el próximo año cumplirá 39 primaveras, aún le quedan como 4 temporadas para seguirnos embelesado con cada batazo de vuelta completa y estableciendo récords, que satisfacción más grande fuese ver a Cabrera conectar 5 cuadrangulares en un mismo juego, algo que hasta ahora ningún jugador ha hecho, es mi mayor deseo, creo que si lo logra hacer, seguro estará en el salón de la fama.

Nos va a invadir la melancolía al no ver, hasta el que ahora, ha sido el mejor pelotero Venezolano en el campo de juego, la tristeza por tantos recuerdos de buenos y malos momentos, sobre Miguel ya hay 38 años y una serie de lesiones que han venido mermando su tiempo de juego y esto mentalmente nos prepara a no verlo más en acción…
Quién será el ídolo nuevo después de José Miguel Cabrera entre los Venezolanos?
Muchos son los nombres que por su juventud pudieran convertirse en el sustituto de cabrera que como el pelotero, rompió con todos los paradigmas del béisbol entre sus compatriotas; Pudieran surgir hombres como Ronald Acuña Jr que actualmente lleva un buen ritmo, y posee buenos números desde su debut en la gran carpa, también surgen nombres como el de José Altuve, Salvador Pérez, Jesús Aguilar, Wilson Contreras, William Contreras, Gleyber Torres entre otros que empiezan a ponernos a soñar con tener una nueva figura emblemática dentro del Big show.
¿Qué tiempo pasará para borrar el recuerdo de cabrera? Tienen los peloteros antes mencionados el potencial para suplir el puesto que se ganó Cabrera en el corazón y la mente de todos? Solo el tiempo la constancia y los números nos darán estas respuestas, en un futuro que veo lejano pues no es fácil mantenerse en la palestra en casi dos décadas, y Miggy como lo apodan lo ha hecho.
Atrás quedaron aquellos ídolos del 41, también peloteros como Antonio Armas, Wilson Álvarez, Omar Vizquel, Andrés Galarraga y otros que han marcado el paso de los grandes por nuestra memoria y que seguirán surgiendo en el futuro.
Con este relato de un poco de historia concluyo, con mi primera publicación aceptando que faltó mucho que hablar de grandes peloteros que merecen tal vez grandes méritos, espero y sea del agrado de todos ustedes y puedan ayudarme a corregir ciertos detalles.
