Queridos amigos, siempre en nuestra vida existen situaciones, personas o cosas que nos hacen sentirnos dichoso por cualquier razón. Les digo esto porque desde muy pequeño mis primos mayores me ponían a jugar con la pelota. Quizá en ese momento fué creciendo mi amor hacia el fútbol.

Dear friends, there are always situations, people or things in our life that make us feel happy for whatever reason. I tell you this because from a very young age my older cousins used to make me play with the ball. Maybe at that time my love for soccer was growing.

Pero hubo una parte de mi vida en la que dije, ¡esto es lo mío! y misteriosamente no fueron mis primos que me hicieron sentir esa dicha. Eso sucedió cuando vi jugar a Juan Arango. El capitán de la selección Absoluta de mi país, Venezuela. Era mágico verlo jugar, era simplemente mágico, sin duda mi ídolo es Cristiano Ronaldo, pero Arango fué quien me hizo amar al fútbol.

But there was a part of my life where I said, this is my thing! and mysteriously it was not my cousins who made me feel that happiness. That happened when I saw Juan Arango play. The captain of the Absolute team of my country, Venezuela. It was magical to watch him play, it was simply magical, without a doubt my idol is Cristiano Ronaldo, but Arango was the one who made me love football.

Recuerdo haber visto varias de sus etapas. Cuando jugaba en el Mallorca de España, ¡¡lunático!!. Creo que fué su etapa de juvenil, era explosivo, regates y sancadas largas. Manejo del balón y mucha potencia al echar al balón correr. Lo que se me viene a la mente de esta etapa, fué el gol que le hizo al Real Madrid de los galácticos ( Raúl, Ronaldo Nazario, Zidane, y pare de contar jugadores estrellas). Recibe pase filtrado entre la defensa, elude al joven Casillas, y define de izquierda, lo demás sólo fué celebración y gozo. Sin duda una de los mejores recuerdos.

Más tarde su etapa en Borussia Mönchengladbach es la que más pude presenciar, por el furor que ocasionó su fichaje. Estaba entrando en su etapa como futbolista más maduro y emblemático de la selección con 29 años. Fueron muchos sus goles, no paraba, una máquina a balón parado. Dejando mucho record, siendo uno de los mejores extranjeros en disputar la liga alemana. Uno de sus legados mas interesantes es que ayudó al crecimiento de un jugador emblemático para la seleccion alemana Marco Reus, quien fué su compañero de entrenamientos y de equipo. Tanto fue el vínculo creado entre estos dos jugadores, que se quedaban incluso despues del entrenamiento a practicar su pegada.

Durante varios años fué el goleador histórico de la selección (22) record batido por el gladiador Salo Rondón, pero ya esa es otra historia. La importancia que le doy a este post va un poco más allá de lo sentimental, y toca el punto clave del futbolista venezolano en el extranjero. Sin duda por papeles en Europa como los de Juan Arango, en España o Alemania es un punto de inflexión en el desarrollo del futbolista venezolano.

Hoy en día Arango a sus 40 años, está retirado. Tuvo un par de temporadas jugando en México con los Xolos de Tijuana, más tarde llevo su magia a la MLS más un semestre en el Zulia F.C club con el cuál aparte de jugador, tenia relaciones económicas.
