Well, the orator argues that the big used reasonable force by choking the little argue. For me as long as it doesn't cause the little guy harm I will consider it to be self-defence. Although the agitation was provoked the little guy escalated things

I'm not a big fan of choking to make someone unconscious. It could go wrong. To defend yourself, you need to strike the attacker. And you can do various strikes. Thank you @nonsowrites for your comment!
