Real Intensity Of Violence and Self Defense

"Self Defense is BS and it does not work to defend yourself."
Do you hear someone saying this about self defense? I usually do not see people saying that. But some people might think self defense is useless and it does not work in real life. When people see what actually happens in real life and how useless some self defense are in that situation, they tend to think like that.

There are different martial arts. Some martial arts focus on sports and how to get more points and win the fight, that's what they spend their energy. There is nothing wrong with that. If you want to participate in the fighting competition and being a champion is your goal, you can go for it.

There are some martial arts that focus on self defense and how you can defend yourself in real-life situations. You see some instructors teach self defense based on hypothesis. And you will find a huge difference between what they teach happen and what actually happens.

You can make some moves based on fantasy and assume it will work. If you see the crime and how people are being attacked, self defense moves that you are taught might not be useful. For example, someone grabs your bag, you turn and kick to the groin. It seems easy. But can you really do that in the real intensity of violence?

If the attacker grabs your bag, he is not going to hold it and stand there. He will pull your bag with force. If it happens suddenly and you have no idea what's going on, you might lose your balance and fall on the ground. Luckily, if you turn and try to resist, you might find it difficult to stand still. And in that situation, if you raise your leg to kick, you will lose your body balance and end up in a bad position.

In some situations, grabbing your bag tight might work. Sometimes you can let the bag go and grab the attacker's hair or neck to take control. If you learn martial arts and self defense that is not based on real intensity of violence, it usually does not work to defend yourself in real life.

So what do you think? Please feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section. Thank you so much for reading this post. Stay safe. Always be happy!
