Self Defense Technique Analysis # 2

When your life is in danger, you always want to use the technique that is most effective for self defense. You do not want to make any unnecessary moves or useless techniques that put you in more trouble.

Welcome back to Self Defense Technique Analysis # 2. In this post, I will share my opinions about specific self defense techniques. When I talk about a specific self defense technique, I may not find it that useful, other self defense techniques shown by the same instructor can be very useful.

There are great martial artists out there. I love and respect them all. I might have a different opinion about a self defense technique in a specific situation, but I respect the instructor.

When someone grabs you from behind and holds you with your hands, you will find it difficult to move. You can also call it bear hug. Whenever you try to do something to defend yourself, the attacker will grab you tighter.

Let's watch this video. We are going to talk about the second technique that's shown in this video. I will also mention the time. All video credit goes to ELLE. With full disclosure, I don't understand the language that's spoken in this video. So what I'm going to say (write) here, that's based on what I see in the video.

Source and Video Credit

From 1:29 to 2:21 Minutes

When someone grabs you from behind like this, even if you move to the side and move your hands back, you cannot hit the attacker hard with your hands.

Whatever your target is to hit, if you cannot it hard and make the attacker feel the pain, he will grab you tighter than before. So I don't think that moving your hands back and hitting like this would be that useful.

You can hit the attacker's foot with your legs. Foot stomp can work very well. You can do that and then make your move to get rid of bear hug. If you are able to hit him or distract him, you can go for releasing yourself from this grab.

One thing you can do to defend yourself in this situation, squeeze your shoulders forward, move your one leg to the side, ground yourself properly and then raise your both hands up with force and power. You can get rid of that in this way.

Please feel free to share your thoughts and experience in the comment section. Thank you so much for reading this post. Stay safe. Always be happy!

Good to see how serious you are about self defence. It's true we are not that aware about it.
I have seen the video. It looks easy but not sure if I really can do that.
Can you share how to respond quickly/break the ice of mind & body during emergency? I would love to know that.

When you face a situation like this, we feel the pressure. To respond quickly, you have to understand the situation first. Then you can decide what to do to defend yourself. You need to spend time on your training to make your move fast.

I'm writing a post as a response to your question. It's almost done. I will publish it soon. Thank you @rem-steem for your feedback!

I understand that it's related to training. But people like me, as a commoner who can't spend enough time in training but does know a few technique can't act fast.
The situation just freeze me. That's why I'm interested to know more.
It would be very nice of you to take your time and write a post. Thanks for that. I will wait!
